Barb Nahoumi Posted April 9, 2013 #26 Share Posted April 9, 2013 As impractical as it might seem, I would still like to see the Big U restored to service.

time2cruise1 Posted April 10, 2013 #28 Share Posted April 10, 2013 Wonder what the interior looks like right now. It is completely gutted. Not one piece of any original trim or fittings. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - Jim
Don Haynes Posted April 10, 2013 #29 Share Posted April 10, 2013 Just about every museum ship slowly dies. I prefer ships not live in this agony and die quickly. I hate to see rust defy a once beautiful ship.

Barb Nahoumi Posted April 10, 2013 #31 Share Posted April 10, 2013 The Norway met the same fate. NCL thought that they could repair it, but decided against it. Sadly, it was scrapped.
grtwithntr Posted April 11, 2013 #32 Share Posted April 11, 2013 http://www.foodforthepoor.org/ Exactly...... My favorite is St. Judes children's hospital. In any case I wish that $5,800,000 donation 20 months ago had gone to some sort of humanity based organization. Seems like a much better use of a person's "extra money" to me. Don't get me wrong I see the historical and sentimental part of it but in the end, It's just a bunch of steel?

mtwingcpa Posted April 11, 2013 #34 Share Posted April 11, 2013 which would you rather save? the USS Olympia or the SS United States? If you are conducting a poll, I'd vote for the SS United States.
