tarheel04 Posted March 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2013 What a joke, I called today to see what kind of comps are available for me on my next cruise in July. We are platinum cruisers, and I spend quite a bit of time in the casino on the slots. I easily reach the free drink card on my 2nd day ( on ships that it its available on ) playing the slots. On my past few cruises I've gotten $200, $150, $75 etc... and not in that order. Today for my cruise in July the staff on the phone today said that $25 would be avaiable for me. Should I be insulted ? Should I call back to make sure this is correct ? Give me your thoughts ? Did I get unlucky and speak to someone who really did not care ? Or am I just wasting my time and should I just be happy with the $25 given to me and move on.

My wife loves to play blackjack or craps. She also gets the On Us drink card and money from the cage. I don't play as much as her so I usually end up getting $25.00 or 4 strawberries. I took the money and purchased the BOGO blackjack entry ticket and gave them both to my wife. She won the tournment and $500.00s:D I got the plastic ship on a stick:eek: By any chance did you talk to Marti? Seems like we would get more $$$ from both Michels:cool: Pink

johnny75 Posted April 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2013 Called CPC for my casino comps, big shock !!!! Spent $3000 in casino on the last cruise gets $50 cash at cage. No more BonVoyage package. I always got one. Will look into Celebrity Club for their perks. Carnival DOES NOT take care of the loyal casino players.
hightownCO Posted April 17, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2013 Have only cruised Carnival once several years ago but played a lot on my Princess cruises. If I call Carnival Players Club will they give me anything based on my Princess casino play?
sailor_jimc Posted April 17, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2013 Sharon- Nope. I have a friend that sails Princess as often or more than she sails Carnival and on both lines she plays a lot of slots... the casinos, even though managed through Carnival Players Club don't seem to share their comps

All they can say is No but with your experience, if they do say no will question a little more. From what I've read, there's a lot of inconsistency in what they do/don't do. hightownCO Posted April 19, 2013 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2013 What info do they typically ask for when you call? They will ask for your booking number and name. Plus asked if I ayed slots or tables. Then they checked their records and told me what they would have for me.
samiam0403 Posted April 25, 2013 #16 Share Posted April 25, 2013 I also got tired of the decreasing perks from Carnival Player's Club (my gambling budget has increased over the years, but my offers went from 'free suite for 7 nights' to '$100 casino cash' to nothing after my last ~10,000 point cruise), so I made the switch to Norwegian. Just finished my first cruise with them a few weeks ago and am 100% converted. I e-mailed CAS (Norwegian's casino dept) to see about maybe getting a 5-10% discount on my next cruise even though I'm a newbie who is still in the first tier of their system - I was pleasantly shocked when they called me back that day and offered me a comped ocean view (which I'm upgrading to a suite for about $600pp). Carnival who? :D

As a Platinum Carnival Cruiser as well as a ~10k+ point player, I think I may seriously have to consider switching lines or not playing on the cruises and saving my play for land based casinos. This was interesting to hear. I already get discounts/free Norweigan offers through Caesars Entertainment, but I have been resistant to change. I think its time to "jump".... Thanks for your post. You're welcome - glad I could help. :) It's funny, I was a little leery about changing as well, but am so happy I did. It's not just the casino perks - although those are nice - it reminded me a little of what Carnival used to be like when I first started cruising, but better! And once I realized that NCL's mini-suites are often the same price as Carnival's standard balconies, I was sold. Of course, I haven't actually sailed in a mini-suite or standard balcony on NCL yet, but from popping my head in a few cabins as we debarked the ship, they looked quite nice. :) You should give it a shot! Get to know the casino host on your sailing, and as long as you're playing a fair amount, they should take great care of you. We got cash off our final bill, at least 2 bottles of wine and dinner for my birthday at the Teppanyaki restaurant. But then again, our casino host on the Sun was fantastic - they can't all be like that. Or can they...:D

We're trying Celebrity for the first time and I'll have to ask if they have anything... I have cruised at least 10 times as a member of the Ocean Players Club. While the comps have never been great, more recently, they are horrible. I am cruising next week with Carnival. Offered me $100 at the cage and a deluxe VIP Bon Voyage package and I am paying for my room. Received a letter from a casino host at Royal Caribbean/Celebrity after I booked this cruise. She is offering any cruise for taxes only. She said I was free to refer other gamblers. Email me if you want more information.
