kruzinkel Posted March 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2013 was having a conversation with someone the other day. they were talking about how much i enjoy cruising and why the recent troubles ( carnival) had not changed my mind. I could travel to a lot of places and often cheaper than a cruise. i know what my reasons are- how about you? why do you love it so much?
luvscruising2007 Posted March 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2013 I love cruising for many reasons. It is a great vacation at reasonable rates. Food is plentiful and good and included. Shows on RC are always good. Only have seen one that was not and that was an outdated comedian. Unpack once and see several ports. Being pampered. Do as much or as little as you want. I am sure there are other good reasons, but right now I can't think of them.
celebrity Posted March 31, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2013 So many reasons..the first being my love of the sea. There is no other caveat ion like it in my opinion. I'm an early riser, my family is not. I can leave my cabin, go get coffee, walk the deck, hit the gym and be back in my cabin when they are ready for breakfast. No worries about where to eat for dinner, unpacking once and seeing a different port each day, meeting lots of new and interesting people. Last but certainly not least is the dedicated crew that go out of the their way to make my trips an absolute pleasure.
wowprincess Posted March 31, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2013 was having a conversation with someone the other day. they were talking about how much i enjoy cruising and why the recent troubles ( carnival) had not changed my mind. I could travel to a lot of places and often cheaper than a cruise. i know what my reasons are- how about you? why do you love it so much? Because I have a room attendant who takes care of me and my room! Because I don't have to cook or worry about food! Because I can see places that, even though may be cheaper to travel directly to, I likely would never go to otherwise. Because on sea days, I can do whatever I want, be with my travelling party, be on my own, and it's perfectly OK. Because it's fun!!

debshomespun Posted March 31, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Can visit many places in 1 trip and don't have to pack and unpack multiple times. Also love to watch the ocean go by while relaxing and reading a book. Food and entertainment are included. We also get great perks (diamond +, and elite to name 2). We have found cruising to be less expensive than flying to an Island (all inclusive trips) and the food wasn't as good...and the entertainment was terrible. kruzinkel Posted March 31, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted March 31, 2013 for me, i have been in the hotel business for almost 20 years. i can, and have, taken wonderful "land-based" vacations that were cheaper than my cruises. for example, i have not paid for a hotel room in Orlando the last 4 times i have been to disney world. HUGE expense that i didn't have. my reasons are little simpler- staying at a hotel is NOT a vacation for me. i spent almost every day for the last 20 years in a hotel! i enjoy cruising because i am not in a hotel. and the food. and the different ports. and the unpacking only once. feels like a hotel, only it's not. kcdancerkc Posted March 31, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Because Nightlife/Dance clubs are wayyy beter on ships than at AI's. Because we can get a few hours on an island and see if we want to go back -- if undecided - cruise there again! No cooking/cleaning At home in the midwest I cannot ever open my bedroom up to hear, smell and see the ocean - as well as more stars than I've ever seen , ever! Easy to do 3-5 different beaches / snorkels in one week! All very different from each other in one trip! :D:D
rmacsc1401 Posted March 31, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2013 I cruise because I love the ocean!! Cruising is soooo relaxing, meeting people from all over the world, the excellent hard-working staff, the guys that hide with me in the sauna so we don't have to go on shore with our wives, the dance clubs watching people dance their butts off that prob would never dance back at home, and the shows!! I LOVE cruising!!
petesweet Posted March 31, 2013 #12 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Great reasons all. I'm looking forward to my first solo, and I'm sure that will be a great experience on a ship--not sure yet which one. Whenever I get in my car, I get lost. Another good reason for me to cruise. I stroll the ship. When I get tired, I sit down and enjoy watching the ocean or fellow passengers. So many reasons. Ports are unimportant to me at this point in my cruising. Happy sails. DM_KidAtHeart Posted March 31, 2013 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2013 1. Breakfast 2. Great Shows on RCI 3. Fun activities included like putt-putt, Flowrider, and other random things 4. Room Steward - beds mad and turned down every day 5. Lunch 6. Visiting more exotic places than I ever could afford as individual vacations 7. Awesome excursions, like the Hartley Helmet Dive in Bermuda and the swimming with dolphins I'll finally be doing on my next cruise. 8. Being able to make payments so that I save up for this wonderful all inclusive vacation. 9. Towel animals - silly I know, but I love em. 10. Dinner 11. Chance of winning a spa treatment in the raffle the first day (I did actually win something on the last one.) 12. Unpacking and repacking once while going lots of places 13. Snacks always available 14. Watching the sea 15. Feeling the motion of the sea if I'm lucky
Shebbieal Posted March 31, 2013 #14 Share Posted March 31, 2013 I am 100% in a wheelchair but very active! A cruise (on the ship) is perfectly accessible, I can do what I want, when I want to! For my husband (who is NOT in a chair) he can truly relax knowing I am ok! For example, if he wants a nap, I can be by myself just fine, even if I want a snack! erbunny Posted March 31, 2013 #18 Share Posted March 31, 2013 ALL of the above, plus: meeting lots of fun people Playing trivia to my heart's content Going to places I might have thought of otherwise, like the Panama Canal. We have been fortunate to have done a LOT of land based travel around the world, and are ready for lots of ports. Huge variety of activities and excursions, can have a beach day one day, a history tour the next Love it all !

CruiseKeeper Posted March 31, 2013 #20 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Good replies above! I want to add I am SO tired of people that remark that they cannot believe we will still go on a cruise after all the press about cruise ships lately. PattyG12 Posted March 31, 2013 #21 Share Posted March 31, 2013 For us, short and sweet. You can do as much or as little as you want to. You can do your own thing and meet your significant other for dinner.

I don't want them on my ship! I love the sea. There is something so amazing about seeing those magnificent vistas and hearing the sound of the sea as it slides past the ship. In addition our family can all do different things, even the kids and still be together and safe. Cant say that when we are holed up in a hotel together in some foreign city! xcell Posted March 31, 2013 #23 Share Posted March 31, 2013 If you have kids...it's the easiest vacation for everyone! (especially if the kids are young...no need for car seats, food readily available, no need to figure out where to eat next, etc...) That's what got us hooked! or alternatively...Why Not???
