RRFPresident Posted March 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2013 Sailed the Carnival Pride last June. Played only slots but certainly put a lot over the course of the cruise into the machines. Several times, a waiter would appear offering some edible item that looked like some sort of folded over pastry? I've been offered a free drink from the casino host on Celebrity once but never food. Between the noise and the waiter's accent, I couldn't tell what they kept offering so I turned them down each time. Anyone have this experience or know of what the item was? sailor_jimc Posted April 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Carnival used to do this all the time. The food is free. The comp'ed drinks are fewer and farther between but they have nothing to do with each other. Depending on the cruise, they will bring in servers and its like the past guest party where they walk around with trays and offer up munchies. They used to setup a little buffet in the casino around midnight and they had pizza and snacks and lemonade/coffee drinks. It was really nice and I keep asking them to start that again. It was nice not to have to leave the casino to go get a snack when it was getting late in the casino. We normally get early dinner so by midnight I could use a snack. DallasGuy75219 Posted April 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2013 On Carnival there used to be a server walking around the casino with light food around midnight, but not so on my last cruise on the Ecstasy in January. Not sure if this was specific to this ship or if this is another fleetwide cut. The choices usually alternated between pizza squares (not the same pizza from the Lido Deck) or a meat-filled dough that they called Jamaican bread, which may be the food the OP is referring to. If so, you didn't miss much, IMHO. I'm not a picky eater and am normally not one to turn down food, but the Jamaican bread was just kinda gross and gave me indigestion. Mike C Posted April 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2013 On the Freedom last year they brought food around about midnight, but this past March on the Splendor there was none. I think it is up to the casino host.
cb at sea Posted June 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Since there is "free" (well, included!) food all over the ship...not sure this is a huge "perk"! RCI does have roaming waiters in the lounges with munchies in the late evening...not just in the casino!
MagnoliaBlossom Posted June 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2013 On the Jewel last month there were sandwiches out around midnight and very early morning there were pastries and juice and coffee.
