BEWARE - Carnival not honoring future cruise discounts for passengers on strand

People ask if they should just book online or have a PVP at Carnival. You dont usually have problems booking it .. its after you booked it that you might need a PVP.

Maybe this should be a good example of why its good to have a good PVP you book with at Carnival and have a relationship with already set up.

This.

I know from experience that Carnival needs to work on their communications with customers.

Somehow things get lost in translation.

Important things.

And it is not so odd to believe that a stranded passenger would be given the opportunity to book several cabins at a discount.

I have not been to WDW in several years, but they offered annual pass holders the benefit of being able to book three rooms at a passholder discount.

So things like that are not unheard of in the travel industry.

Somewhere lost in here is Carnival's EXTREMELY GENEROUS compensation offer.

The compensation offer was generous. Made less so by the run around people are put through to take advantage of it. A great company strives to handle a customer's problem with the first contact with customer service. CCL does eventually get it right, but it takes effort on the part of the customer to make it happen.

This is exactly what I was thinking. And the only reason they offered something so generous was because they had to at that point. If this stuff had happened pre-splendor/triumph, the situation would have been handled much differently.

Just wanted everyone to know that Carnival is not honoring the "50 percent off future cruise" for passengers that were on the recent stranded ships. They do everything in their power not to honor the discount. We had to email the original letter received from Carnival to them because "they didn't have a record of it." Spent an entire morning on the phone and countless hours of planning preparing for this trip. Spoke with Carnival several times previously confirming the details and was told that we could book several cabins under the same booking for the 50% discount. Well..... come time to book and their story changed.

SHAME ON CARNIVAL - Bad experience keeps on ......!!

Think about it.... is any company just going to take someone's "word"???

Common sense tells you that you can not use it more than the number of cabins you had originally booked....

Now IF you had more than one cabin booked on the original cruise (like for your children etc)...then you would be able to use it on more than "one" cabin.

Btw, the couple of times we have gotten future cruise discounts (and yes, one was 50%)...our PVP handled it with one phone call...simple as can be.
