Celebrity Summit with a 5 Year Old?

We're considering a Bermuda cruise on the Celebrity Summit for early June. We've never cruised Celebrity before and I was wondering if someone could provide some insight into the Fun Factory. What's been your experience with 5 to 6 year olds and their enjoyment of the program. Celebrity's platform is Modern Luxury and I'm not sure what that translates into in terms of children's programs.

I've done alot of research on here and heard positive things, but most of the responses have been in regards to pre-teen/teens. Anyone have any feedback on lower elementary age kids?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

You'll have a great time. We did that same cruise last summer. The ship will be very crowded in the summer. If you can go before June 8th- there will be fewer passengers. We did one in August and it was packed with kids. So the pool area was too crowded IMO.

The Fun Factory is fantastic and they have lots of fun activities- scavenger hunts, outdoor sports, art and crafts, games, a talent show, family bingo, family disco, family scavenger hunts. My son loves Celebrity and we've cruised them 9 times.

Try Bistro on Five ($5 pp). It is open on the day of embarkation and they have great crepes, paninis, soups, salads and desserts. They make them to order and my son loved it. He also loved Qsine ($40 pp) and I think a 5 year old would too. It's a great experience.

As for Bermuda- definitely do the zoo and aquarium. You can do it by yourselves by taking the ferry from where the ship docks and taxi to the zoo/Aquarium. Will be cheaper, more fun and faster than a tour.

You will have a great time.

Thanks! I also got similar feedback on the Celebrity board and now have a much higher comfort level for trying Celebrity with our daughter. Thanks for the tips on the Bermuda zoo and aquarium also. I had looked into that as a possible excursion, but wasn't sure if it was worth it. Now I'm leaning toward making this one of our port days!

Thanks again!

What wonderful news. We just booked this cruise yesterday. At least I know that my 5yo DD won't be the only kiddo on the boat in her age group. I was worried since it is still very early in the Summer. We're from Houston, and this leaves the weekend we get out of school, but I know other areas of the US don't get out until later in June.

Thanks for the response Bancs

Great news! I had the same concerns. Glad my girls won't be the only ones too.

We're from NY; school will still be in session when we set sail. Our girls will be missing the week.

Hope you have a great trip and we may cross paths!

Hi! I'm cruising with my husband and my 5 year old son out of Bayonne, NJ on May 26th to Bermuda. I'm concerned that my son won't have many kids to hang out with on board in The Fun Factory. Is anyone out there sailing the same week with children around the same age?

I just wanted to follow-up with our 1st experience on celebrity as a family. My husband and I are mid-30s and DD is 5yo as originally mentioned in this thread. We've cruised 10+ times with NCL, HAL, and RCCL.

We sailed the Summit June 9th and had a fantastic time. The service was top notch. We prefer a laid-back approach to cruising, but when we wanted to find fun, we always found it. We enjoyed the shows, the casino, the martini bar!

In regards to the original post, DD enjoyed the vacation as much as we did. The fun factory had some great activities, both for just the kids and the families. The kids enjoyed a pirate treasure hunt, dino egg hunt, scavenger hunts, and tons of games and activities. Through out the week she came back dressed up as a princess, a pirate, a dinosaur, and a super hero. We participated in family bingo, family Zumba, family disco, and family DJ scratch lessons. My daughter loved it so much, we had to drag her our each night.

It was an overall wonderful experience for both us and her, and we will defiantely be sailing celebrity again. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback here.
