Cheers Confusion

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I'm a little confused about the Cheers program. Carnival policy states that Non Alcoholic drinks are included, then directly underneath that it says that they are excluded. Which one is it? Are frozen alcoholic drinks (pina colada's, daquiri's, etc) included? I also remember reading on this site that you can't get drinks on the program while the ship is in any port. Is this true? I sometimes stay on the ship if it's in a port I don't like, and if I can't order drinks through the program, it might not be worth it. Thanks in advance for any comments.

frozen non alcohic drinks ARE included in your total of 15 per day.

Soda is not.

When doing the math to see if it is a good deal for you-- those frozen drinks are 4.95 each

Frozen non-alcohol drinks count toward your 15 drink limit. Juices and soda's do not. Coffee's are not included in the program, neither are any of the liqours in your fridge or bottled water from a bar.

The program is only sold on embarkation day and the day after. None of the drinks that you purchase prior to purchasing the Cheers program count toward your 15 drink limit.

You can get drinks on the Cheers program anytime a bar is open even when the ship is in port.

When you get to your 14th drink they will tell you that you only have one drink left.

And don't forget that you can get a large Bloody Mary during the morning drink special because it's still under the $10 limit.

I'll add to the above, when you buy your drinks while docked in a port you have to pay tax for that drink. It could be only U.S. ports I'm not entirely sure. Soda and non-alcholic drinks are included but remember they will only serve you one at a time. I tried to get a margarita and a soda with lunch and they wouldn't let me have both at the same time. Sort of annoying.

Spiked coffees are included in the Cheers program. Or at least they were on the Breeze a few weeks ago.

You just got lucky, they weren't included when I was on the Breeze in January or on the Conquest last week.

Edit to Add: There was one bartender in the Lobby I think it was Agnes that did serve my sister a coffee on the cheers program, but then Alex and Zeljko said that it wasn't allowed. She could pay for the coffee and get a shot on the cheers program though.

That's too bad. They really need to be consistent with things. My partner had a few spiked coffees from the cafe and enjoyed them.

That really surprises me. I've been on 30 Carnival cruises and I don't think I've ever seen a cafe that served any alcohol.

But you are right the inconsistencies between ships and even between bars on the same ship are frustrating. I know they have a printed card for the guests to read and understand all the rules, but it doesn't seem like many of them are all that familiar.

Another perk that many people aren't taking advantage of is turning in your receipts on the Classic Cocktails for $5 Match Play tickets in the Casino. And if you are like me and usually also get the Players Club On Us card during the week, make sure the drinks you are served in the Casino are comped from the Players Club and NOT on your Cheer's program.

Frozen alcoholic drinks are included. FROZEN non alcoholic drinks are also included as well as sodas. The program states a limit of 15 ALCOHOLIC beverages so texhnically the frozen non alcoholic drinks should not count towards the limit. I had to argue with one bartender who said it did and another said it didn't. I never reached my max so they may have counted anyway and I didn't know. Sodas do not count for sure. I'm sad to see the price increase but considering its still lower than RCIs premium package I would buy it again.

Just one thing to note, that if sailing from Galveston, you cannot purchase the program until your first full day (day after boarding) due to Texas law forbidding discount pricing for all inclusive alcohol packages.

Galveston is my homeport but I haven't sailed from there since the Cheers program was added to the Magic. I knew that the only liqours that could be served prior to sailing had to have Texas tax stamps so the selection was limited.

Are you sure you can't buy it after the ship is in international waters after sailaway. That's when the full bar selections are available.

I know this has probably been answered but can't seem to find it. After 15 drinks are you able to purchase a drink and pay for it? I know 15 drinks is a lot, just need an the answer thanks!

We were. There were 2 days that each of us exceeded the 15 drink limit. We not only were able to purchase a drink at the regular price, but on a couple of occasions the bartender just rang it up as a soda which doesn't count in the 15.

It's not that hard to consume 15 drinks a day and not be intoxicated. We usually start with a few Bloody Mary specials before noon, then some beers and margarita's throughout the day, then wine with dinner and in the casino. We were often up until well after midnight so those were the nights that we went over.

Each Bar Manager is responsible for evaluating your level of intoxication and early in the week when we were coming close to the limit they seemed to watch us a little closer. Once they realized that we weren't drunk they just okayed the bartenders to use their own judgement but that we seemed okay.

I have seen people denied further service, so it does happen.

Certainly not trying to argue the point here but it states here that the non alcoholic frozen drinks are excluded from the cheers program all together so wouldnt they need to be paid for on a per basis ?? Just a thought here, I read it as not included. Not in your 15 limit or in the program at all and must be paid for separate along with the rest included in this list.

Beverages excluded from the program are:

· Non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails.

· Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses.

· Beverages offered at gangway while debarking

· Beverages offered through room service as well as mini bars and/or other in-stateroom beverage programs.

It says non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic frozen beverages. So they are included.

I think they're just trying to drive the point home here that coffee and bottled water are not, even though they explicitly go on to state it below.

Sailed the Dream on 04/06/13...Purchased Cheers for my wife and I. Very much worth it for us. I LOVED the freedom of choosing different drinks and wines and not worrying about cost...(always stayed under $10 drink limit)

I did not have to purchase bubbles for my kids. Cheers included all non-alcoholic drinks (didn't count towards limit)...even Pina Coladas, Daiquiris etc... with no alcohol. No questions asked. The ONLY nuisance was that you have to wait 5 minutes between drinks...Even if they were non-alcoholic.

I could NOT get a glass of orange juice however in the evening...My daughter likes OJ before bed and I was surprised it wasn't included. They would, however, let me order creatively with the 2 cheers cards. One Crown Royal and Coke in a double glass and one Crown Royal and OJ...with the CR shot in a separate shot glass, which I in turn added to the CR and coke. Then they would fill the rest of the glass up with coke in few minutes. CRAZY, but it worked.
