tomc Posted June 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2005 I might stay at a B&B prior to an upcoming cruise. Am I expected to tip the owners? I'm new at this. Well, not new at cruising (not in the least bit), but new to B&B's.
johnql Posted June 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Check out the following link for advice on tipping etiquette: http://www.findalink.net/tippingetiquette.php Their advice is that many, if not most, B&Bs have a no-tipping policy in the U.S. and Canada. However, if they have hired housekeeping staff, the staff should be tipped the same as in a hotel.
marco Posted June 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2005 Not necessarily in conjunction with a cruise, but whenever we have stayed at a B&B, it always was small enough to not have staff other than the owner(s), tipping was never suggested and (I don't think) expected. trish1c Posted June 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2005 You never have to tip the owner of anything: B&B, bar, restuarant, etc. You should tip the staff at the same rates you'd tip in a hotel.
sultan_sfo Posted June 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2005 A small gift (remembrance) will always be appreciated. And if you or your friends stay there again, you will notice the difference in service. /Sultan
