What is the worst thing you forgot?

One year, we had a group of 7 - all going to port in mini van. To save room, we packed some of our stuff in the stow n go compartments, in floor. We didn't notice until we were in our room and saw some of luggage missing. My husband and sister hopped on an elevator, in hopes of being let off ship to make a run to the parking lot. As they were discussing the humor in the situation, a man on the elevator overheard them - he happened to be head of security and took them personally to get our forgotten bags!

Our story is just the opposite. My husband accidently packed the jeans, he was going to wear off the ship, the night before and put the luggage out in the hallway. When he woke up in the morning, he did not have any pants to wear off the ship.... Long story short, a friend of ours went up and down her hall until she found someone with an extra pair of sweatpants. They were a little short and tight, but at least he got off the ship without too much embarrassment.:p We washed and returned them to the owner after we got home. We laugh about it now, but at the time I was a nervous wreck. Now, that is the one thing we make sure to keep out before we set the luggage out in the hall the night before.

Gwen :)

Lol, thanks for the giggles :D my hubby almost did this, he sleeps in his boxers and I saw him putting his shorts in the suitcase we were about to set out in the hallway before bed. Luckily I saw him do it and told him to stop and think about what he needed to keep in our carry-ons and what he wanted to wear for disembarkation. He grabbed those shorts! :)

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I thought I was the only one. :o

Drove down to Pt Canaveral the day before our 4 nighter on Monarch. About 9 PM the worst realization came over me - I didn't have my passport. I was going to drive back home - 8 hour drive and return with just enough time to make it and be totally exhausted and stressed out the first couple of days of the cruise. Luckily, I remember my nephew who lives about 65 miles from my house and he works nights. Called him and he was off that weekend. Yippee! He drove to my house, woke the house sitter (we would have asked her to meet us half way but she doesn't drive at night) and got my passport out of the safe. He and his wife drove from there to Pt Canaveral. They arrived about 6 am. I arranged for a late check out so they could stay over and I gassed their car and paid him for his efforts.

Funny thing is - I usually break even at the casino on board - this cruise I won enough to cover the gas and what I paid my nephew!

I forgot my Passport!! Good thing I always go up a day early because I had to turn around & go home to get it!! Luckily I had my son meet me half way with my passport. Now my family always reminds me to take my passport before I leave for the next cruise:p;)

Our daughter and DH's sister will be joining us on their first cruise next year out of Sydney and you can bet I will remind them during the cruise to leave clothes out to wear getting off the ship. I generally bring all the documents, Passports into the bedroom and set on the dresser and next to my purse so as not to forget, Even after getting to our local airport I am constantly checking those papers to make sure I still have them.

This is the reverse, but on a cruise from San Juan, I got to the airport after the cruise and realized I had left my keys in the stateroom of the ship. I never did get them back. I had to have a friend bring us keys to the airport... what a mess!

Funny thing was that I had them set aside and suitcases locked and ready for hallway, when he said he had to put something else in the suitcase. Wasn't paying any attention to what he was putting in suitcase or would have stopped him. Anyway, it turned out it was all my fault anyway.......:mad: At least according to him. But, I know otherwise.;)

I got a good one. My sister and her husband forgot the most important thing ever "the time" while at a port they forgot to turn their clocks up an hour, they heard a horn blow, looked over and said "hey that looks like our ship" you betcha they missed the boat!!!!! No credit cards no ID just sign and sail card and few bucks, trust me they had a hard hard time getting back to the US.:(

Car keys in the safe, along with Treximet ( $ 188 bucks prescription for migraines)

After my 3 sweep of the cabin, I tripped. I was near the MB closet, put the car keys and my little drug holder in the safe so that I would not forget them while I cleaned up my skinned knee.

Got home to our airport, picked up luggage and had that " OH NO.." moment.

We did not live near enough the airport to have a friend or taxi pick us, our 3 kids and luggage up. Rented a car, drove home , got the spare and DH drove the 2 hours back .

Keys came by fed-ex from RCL 2 days later. Never got my medicine, but I would have tossed it anyway. I no longer touch the car keys to the home car while on vacation...especially since I left them in the LOCK of the safe at the Lago Mar the year before. Had put the safe key on my key chain, asked DD to double check inside the safe, she said it was clear- because it was! Hope they upgraded to touch pads during their renovations!

Rented car, drove home, DH back to airport. Keys came several days later from Fedex.

On my first cruise I forgot to pack my husband any socks. I had to buy some in the hotel gift store, and they weren't cheap.

But it didn't dampen the cruise any tho, so it might not fit here. But now when we travel, socks are always packed first..lol.

My husband didn't pack his casual socks. It was very hard to find plain white socks! I forget where we ended up finding them.

We now post a sign on the door with the word INSULIN in big letters to make sure it's not forgotten when we travel.

lol, I always place a post-it note with 'insulin' written on it, both in my suitcase and one in the kitchen- to remind me to take it out of the 'fridge the morning we leave!

The worst item I left behind was on my second cruise...yes, my birth certificate! :o This was eighteen years ago, with a friend, in Miami. The girl at check-in wasn't about to let me board the ship. I had my FL driver's license, SS card, voter ID, pic ID from my work. No go. She wanted my DH to fax a copy of my bc. He was at work, and I was questioning to myself if he would be able to locate my bc- and we didn't have a fax machine at the time. Just then a man came over to inquire what was going on. He reviewed my info, asked me where I was born, and looked me up and down. He stated "no one could make that up" (the city), and told the girl to let me board! My friend and I had a fantastic cruise, and I've had a passport ever since.

We forgot the sunscreen one year. It was a very painful experience.

Was it a painful experience due to sunburn, or having to pay the price for sunscreen on board? :p

I thought I responded already, but I don't see it anywhere....

I forgot my bathing suit once :(

It was an Alaskan cruise, but it would have been nice to have had the option to swim as it would have been warm enough when we left, plus the ship had a solarium.

Passport...about midnight the night before boarding my daughter makes a joke about me packing the passports (because I have spreadsheets for everything)...well I froze in place because I had forgotten them. I had to jump in the car and make the 6 hour trip (RT) back home to get them. I took a cat nap when I got home and made it back in time to return the rental and catch the shuttle to the ship (wasted hotel room) :) It's now the first thing to go into my trip folder...

Like a previous poster, I had packed and left everything for my husband to put in the car. Once we were on the ship, I was like "Where's my garment bag? The one that was hanging on the doorknob?" - Yeah, it was at home! All of my shirts and dresses were in it - I had a few casual shirts in my suitcase, plus what I had worn on the trip down - who knew that San Juan Puerto Rico had a Marshalls?!! Thank goodness that was our first stop, so I purchased some tops and a couple of dresses!! whew!!

Ha-ha! Yup DH forgot the garment bag and we made a quick trip to Sears in San Juan:p...got my employee discount even:thumbup:
