nybumpkin Posted May 4, 2013 #26 Share Posted May 4, 2013 Lots of places to stay right on the beaches in New Jersey. Most shore spots (In Jersey you go "down the shore" not "to the beach :D ) have motels within walking distance and then, of course there is Atlantic City with hotels right on the boardwalk LOL - I'm originally from South Jersey and when I mention "going down the shore" people look at me funny.:o The New York sailaway is my absolute favorite of the cruises we've taken. irishnyc Posted May 4, 2013 #27 Share Posted May 4, 2013 I grew up going to the NYC/Long Island beaches, but they are "commute-to" experiences. It's not as if you can book a hotel room on the beach at parking lot 5 at Jones. :) True, but you could stay in midtown or downtown and hop a subway and spend the day on the boardwalk in Coney or Brighton. Both the subway and the neighborhoods are experiences in and of themselves.
