Overtyme Posted September 20, 2014 #3826 Share Posted September 20, 2014 LOL! Who knows you may have just gave them an idea for Anthem to show differentiation:). Now what will replace the bear on Anthem and then Ovation? Maybe they can have the backside of the bear with the front of the hotdog truck sticking out of it
Tall-Cruiser Posted September 21, 2014 #3827 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Not much can be done in those areas were the lifeboats are with such narrow space. Good for a nice walk. While the lifeboats may take up premium space on the promenade we cannot lose sight of the big improvement in safety it is by them being there. smoosh21 Posted September 21, 2014 #3828 Share Posted September 21, 2014 From the deck 12 plans looks like the first few cabins forward near the bridge may be reserved for the crew. Perhaps the Captain and other Senior Officers. They Usually are. If you have ever done a Bridge tour, there are quite a few cabins behind the secured area that leads to the bridge. Senior Officers and also usually the Cruise Director and the Concierge have rooms in that area. They get much better rooms than the general staff who are below decks

The reason for doing this is just to be able to squeeze in more balconies. Lifebosts still have to be lowered to promenade level in case they are needed. Cutesy Pie Lover Posted September 21, 2014 #3830 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Updated photos from the Quantum Here are more pics from the area forward of Michael's Genuine pub. Staircase on the left side of the picture ishighlighted in yellow on deck plans. I included the photo from previous post. Music Hall I flipped the deck plans around to orient them with the picture. The hall's stage is on the right side of the photo. These must be the windows at the top of the interior of deck 5 with cross bars. All very nice photographs. Thank you for posting. I like how more light is coming into the ship. The glass statue, the music hall, etc. all look great. Too bad that we cannot figure out what the More To Come spot is. Keep the photographs coming!! My chance to cruise again is far off. I like to be able to see the ship in the meantime.
parrotplay Posted September 21, 2014 #3831 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Maybe they can have the backside of the bear with the front of the hotdog truck sticking out of it  I was thinking that the Anthem will have a Turquoise Bear and the Ovation a Purple Bear. Tall-Cruiser Posted September 21, 2014 #3832 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Why is this an improvement in safety? The reason for doing this is just to be able to squeeze in more balconies. Lifebosts still have to be lowered to promenade level in case they are needed. My understanding is (and especially since the Costa Concordia tragedy) there has been a lot of talk about how to make it safer and easier for passengers to board Lifeboats should there be a need. I thought I read somewhere that is one reason why Quantum Class was designed as such to have them on the promenade deck as opposed to hanging over the sides. jaydog240011 Posted September 21, 2014 #3833 Share Posted September 21, 2014 The lifeboats will still have too be lower down you can't just walk into them. Don't look like a safer way just a cheaper way. They save a lot of money that way. How much safe it it with those small walk ways.

Your have to lower the davit out, vs having the over head where you have to slide he davit out and then lower the cables to have the life boat become even with the side of the ship. In my opinion would be faster the new way vs the old way Sent from my iPad using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app Edited September 21, 2014 by Brian131489
jaydog240011 Posted September 21, 2014 #3835 Share Posted September 21, 2014 It may be faster but its all about save money by putting them lower there less steel and cables to used .

DKNYC Posted September 22, 2014 #3839 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Watched Her back up through that tight passage on the helper stream. WOW! I will think of this the next time I have to back my SUV into a tight parking spot at the Mall. :) Denise

gaylemh Posted September 22, 2014 #3846 Share Posted September 22, 2014 There doesn't appear to be much room outside for muster. I wonder if the muster stations will all be inside. That would be great when sailing from NJ.
Lloyd555 Posted September 23, 2014 #3847 Share Posted September 23, 2014 I'm so embarrassed. It looks like it was Gloria the Hippopotamus that I mistook for the North Star wrapped up in plastic many posts ago. Don't tell Melman!!
