In retrospect ... this would have been a bad day to be sailing into/out-of Baltimore

Recommended Posts

We were to have been on the Grandeur sailing that would have returned to Baltimore today. Given the weather caused by the tropical system, I suspect it would have been a rough crossing from Bermuda ... and a lousy day to be sightseeing in Baltimore (which was the original plan).

I'm pleased the GOS burning and all those frightened people changed your plans for you :-)

I am sure it is disappointing to have missed your cruise. Your posts have been so positive and caring for all involved from the beginning. Hopefully, you have perfect weather for your replacement cruise.:)

Not ideal but I sailed from B'more with a TS chasing us down the bay:eek:!! Talk about an eventful start to a trip:cool:.

Oh yeah, and it got better - busted the rudder off of cozumel earl in the trip and then had to be escorted back up the bay by tugs that couldn't go faster than 10 knots - we didn't dock in B'more until 3pm-ish:D.

That was our second cruise...as you can see didn't turn us off in the least:p

your next cruise is going to be perfect. Ignore the "background modulation" we sometimes get around here. The "ignore list" works really well ;)

I keep hoping some of those I met on the May 31st roll call will sign up for my replacement cruise ... I was looking forward to meeting them. But at least there will be a few people on it that are from the cruise that ended so badly. I'm impressed at their courage and general positive outlook. It will be quite an experience to meet them and hear their stories.

Wow! I've never run into anything like that. I admire your upbeat attitude.

You are definitely taking Lemons and making Lemonade!! It is upsetting when a cruise that you have planned is cancelled...for whatever reason. Your positive attitude will definitely reflect in the experience that you have on your next cruise! Had the cruise not been cancelled...we all know that you would have had a great time regardless of the weather.

Best wishes!

Always a silver lining! Explorer is heading for nyc (I think) currently. Must be a fun ride!

You must have hit the "submit reply" right before me. You took the words right out of my mouth. I should be quicker on the draw......:p

Someday I hope we meet on a cruise ... you were so active on the roll call that I felt I already knew you. I hope you have a wonderful replacement cruise as well.

Was our kids first cruise too - my (then) 14yo DS thought it was "awesome" to watch the deck chairs tumbling over each other from the VCL as we sailed down the bay...

Everything is what you make of it...I've learned over the years to control what I can control and let the rest of it roll off, no use wasting the energy.

While I know you are disappointed, maybe your next trip will be even more fabulous than this one would have;).

Best of luck!

We were on the EOS in March. You will have a great cruise! Great staff and a lovely ship.

They did not hand out tickets for the ice show...your muster station # dictates when you go to the show (at least that is how it was done in March)...

March...well...the weather was a little chilly so we wanted to do the ice show on Day 2..We were scheduled for Day 3. Dang!!! The weather would be getting warmer and the pool would be calling us. We went down to Studio B on Day 2 and stood near the doors. 10 minutes before the show started they let anyone in. There were lots of seats available...The afternoon show and Day 3 shows were postponed due to rough seas. Gosh...we got it right! Saw the show and they rest of the cruise we enjoyed on deck near the pools!

ENJOY your cruise!!!

I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. You may realize it a day later or years down the road, but I guarantee you, something would have never happened in your life had your cruise not been cancelled. Keep looking at the silver lining and remain positive.

Thanks. You never know what can happen. We have met up with several friends we met on cruises years after we first met. I will keep looking for you on CC anytime I book a cruise.

You too, have a great replacement cruise and keep looking for that "silver lining".........;)
