cingroomer Posted August 16, 2013 #76 Share Posted August 16, 2013 For us this was a no brainier! I got the email and couldn't wait for hubby to get home. He had seen about 60 patients that day so was really tired when he got home. I told him about the cruise and he said " it will make you happy so sure I'll book it tomorrow ". Got to love that man! Always have a well represented number of STEELERS fans on our cruises, will be fun to have ALL STEELERS fans! We are loyal to royal and bleed black and gold! Looking forward to our cruise in Sept but can't wait for Mar! Yes this is expensive but on a ship with all things STEELERS and the players, coaches and staff= priceless! I'm with you. We booked ours today only because a cancellation came up. The expensive rooms sold first. We booked a Grand Suite, and yes, its expensive, but my Steelers are worth it. I am so excited. I have a Carnival cruise next month and not nearly as excited as the one in March. I can't wait to see which of the current players will be on it also. niecyd Posted August 16, 2013 #77 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Just heard on the news tonight about a chartered Pgh Steelers cruise. March 10-15, 2014 on the Brilliance out of Tampa. Of course it's not on the RC website - you have to book through a private website. It's priced high, but these specialty cruises usually are higher due to the personalities and entertainment onboard. We are big Steeler fans and would find sailing with some of those listed, including singers, would be so much fun! Seriously, OMG...I am such a Steelers fan for 10 years now...DH is still in denial...he's an Eagle fan.
2tall Posted August 16, 2013 #78 Share Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) and bleed black and gold! Keep bleeding! And we'll see you Monday night at Fed Ex Field. HTTR. [/color][/b] Seriously, OMG...I am such a Steelers fan for 10 years now...DH is still in denial...he's an Eagle fan. Just joking around with the good nurse sue above (half of the fun is in the ribbing back and forth)...and have no problems with the Steelers, even though those dang "terrible towels" are enough to push a sane person right over the edge...but I have had major, major problems with the Eagles fans at our games. They're all so...angry. And mean. Nobody from this neck of the woods goes up to Philly for the games and everyone who has, down to the last person, had problems--drinks thrown at them, food smeared on them, jerseys torn, threats, hats stolen, people squaring off with them in the parking lot. Doesn't matter if they're Dallas fans, Skins fans, Giants fans, or fans of somebody else. They are equal opportunity haters. The guy who sits behind us at the games went to an Eagles/Skins game in Philly several years ago, which we won, and the police came and told him they were escorting him out to his car for his own safety. **edited to add that our first home game of the regular season is against Philly on a Monday. I expect it to be intense. Edited August 16, 2013 by 2tall

nurse1sue Posted August 17, 2013 #81 Share Posted August 17, 2013 Is anyone familiar with McKeesport? My paternal grandparents lived on Craig St there. Growng up I loved going there. We went 2-3 times a day to a little corner store to buy our penny candy and there was an old Italian man who repaired shoes by the store. He would let us kids come in and watch him. I remember the soot from the steel mills. I went back several years ago for an uncles funeral and the town had turned in to one big ghetto. It made me so sad. I lived in NE Ohio and yes I hate the browns, going to visit my grandparents made me the STEELERS fan I am today! My brother on the other hand went the way of the Brownies. I have so much fun each football season, him, not so much lol!

What a small world. When I went to school, Montour was Moon's rival. Lots of Pittsburghers everywhere including Sun City Hilton Head where we live. When football season starts, there will be lots of Steeler flags and we have Steeler sports bar close by.

nurse1sue Posted August 18, 2013 #86 Share Posted August 18, 2013 STEELERS will do well this year. I am sure we'll be in the play offs and super bowl is not out of reach. The team has too much pride in their legacy to not do well this year. The STEELERS always pick their new players carefully and see things in them that others don't. I think we're in for a great year! I along with everyone else will never forget or forgive what Art Modell did to our area. Sorry but this is something I can't joke about. On a lighter side take the cruise maybe we can convert you! He did his residency and fellowship in KC back during the really lean years and he said they were the most pathetic fans lol. Nice they have something to cheer for now. I don't have a problem with the Skins, just wish RG3 could stay healthy. Hopefully they'll get a new coach that can develop his greatness. If so he'll be one of the greatest ever! amomof3kids Posted January 21, 2014 #93 Share Posted January 21, 2014 For those like myself who were crazy enough about the Steelers to pay the asking price for the cruise, I've stated a roll call thread on the Brilliance page of the "Meet & Mingle" section. Let the countdown begin! Saw this cruise awhile back and my fiancée is a HUGE Steelers fan. I wanted so badly to book it but knew it was too expensive. I saw last week they were offering a discount of 40% off each person in the remaining cabins so I jumped on it!! He has NO IDEA I am planning this surprise for him. I want to get married on the cruise but the RC wedding packages are way more than I want to spend on top of the cruise. I will have to check out the Meet & Mingle roll call post. Can't wait to get out of this nasty Ohio weather and into the sand and sun!!

Franco101 Posted March 17, 2014 #96 Share Posted March 17, 2014 Just came back from the Steelers cruise and have to say I was somewhat disappointed! I had a chief junior suite and the perks as advertised were no where to be found. The special gift was a joke and access to the private lounge where you were supposed to meet steelers players - well they accessed a totally different lounge (diamond lounge) where we didn't have access. Hines Ward, Mel Blount, Donnie Shell, Antonio Brown among other got off in the Bahamas and didn't get back on and Franco Harris, well he got on in the Bahamas but got back off before the ship left port................so meeting and mingling with Franco was not even a possibility....................the most appalling thing I witnessed with my 11 yr old daughter was an incident which occurred after the Super Bowl Rewind of the Super Bowl IX show where a young boy approached Franco who was on stage for an autograph and as Franco reached for the pen an employee for the company organizing the steelers end of the cruise pushed the kid back and then the mother when she stepped in.............it was appalling and embarrassing and you could see that Franco was taken aback from the incident, maybe that is why he left the ship...................in another incident a California fan asked Antonio Brown for an autograph and the fan was asked to dance for the autograph (which he refused) and then Brown asked the fan to do a "crib walk"!which resulted in the fan threatening to punch Brown out - maybe that's why he left in the Bahamas..............the cruise was definitely not as advertised!!! Enough though cannot be said about Moon Mullins, Chris Hoke, Dermonti Dawson, Andy Russell and Hines Ward (when he was there) if every player was as approachable as these players were then the would be nothing to complain about. It's pretty bad when the headliners of the cruise Ward, Blount and Harris are not signing and notice of this is provided about a month before we set sail. In regards to the Royal Carribbean the service was lets just "Immaculate" So, if there is another cruise, my advice, save your money as in this case it will not turn out to be as advertised! Here in Columbus they do an annual Buckeye Cruise as well and it benefits a cancer charity and the prices reflect that. I was on that cruise also in a Chief Suite and paid 6500.00 for my room. Huge disappointment. About 3/4 of the people on that cruise were complaining. Adding to what you said, Heath Miller refusing to sign until his autograph session, Mel Blount claiming he couldn't sign jerseys/helmets/footballs as part of his contract was a lie, and the autograph sessions being set at the same time, as well as the lie about the fast pass (which they told me applied to every autograph session like in Disney) and so much more. I will be contacting the horrible travel agency and filing a complaint with the BBB as well as a ripoff report. I would also like very much to get in touch with the Rooneys and let them know how their loyal fans were treated. Louis Lipps, Shamarko and some others were awesome, and the old timers had some great stories and actually talked with you. Larry Foote is a hoot, as is Chris Hoke. Mingling with the Steelers just wasn't there like promised, and oh ya, the private room was a joke, they had the Diamond Lounge, they weren't coming into the Conceirge lounge. Many people were talking about a class action lawsuit against them, and I for one would totally be in.
nurse1sue Posted March 18, 2014 #100 Share Posted March 18, 2014 We also returned from the cruise. I will say the players that came out amongst us fans were wonderful and Shamarko was my cruise MVP. What a wonderful young man! Wolf was also a blast! However, I saw Heath in a whole new light and not a good one. What a jerk. I felt like genuflecting after getting his autograph. We had refused to pay extra for anything from the beginning so when we were shut out of the extras, I didn't care. But the people that did pay were ripped off! Anne promised me autographs for a 4th tour army captain that she DID NOT deliver on and that was the worst in my book. How dare she blow off someone like that with a clear conscience. That company was completely unethical and unprofessional. They said what they wanted to get people on the ship, having no intention of delivering the goods. We would not do it again. The fans were great and we met wonderful people but everyone was upset about things all week. RCCL was outstanding and the refurbished ship was stunning. I hope people realize it was the tour company and not RCCL that was to blame for the cruise. We are loyal to Royal and look forward to many more cruises, just not a steelers cruise!
