Thinking of NCL

We are thinking about trying NCL on the Gem doing a New England Fall sailing 2014. I have cruised NCL before on the Skyward and Norway but that was back in 80 & 81.

Many thing have changed in the cruise industry since then.

We have sailed primarily with CCL and RCL over the years.

To all the vet NCL'ers What is the major difference we will find cruising with NCL.

There isn't a HUGE difference in NCL and CCL really. NCL offers more dining options with about half being a surcharge restaurants. Other than eating when you choose and not having an assigned table and waitstaff that is the biggest difference I can think about.

We have cruised both and one of the major things that I have noticed about NCL is the buffet is open longer hours. Many times we would come back from port and the buffet would be closed on carnival.
