Free Luggage Totes

Recommended Posts

Let's see - 2 ships have reported no more free tote bag drawings.

Maasdam and Oosterdam.

If I recall correctly, they didn't give them out as prizes for completing the comment card at the end of the Panama cruise on the Statendam last November. It ran through my mind at that time that there was no mention of a prize but I didn't question it.

Those bags are great............if you pack them properly!

They're on wheels - if the heavy stuff is not secured at the bottom you're in trouble - the trick is to pack so that the bag stands upright - too many bulges cause tip-overs and you end up dragging the thing on its backside or holding it up on a short strap.

You know how HAL always has a drawing at the end of a cruise when you will out your comment card and they draw 9 lucky winners?

Has anyone ever won one of those luggage totes?

If I recall correctly, on the last Carnival cruise I was on in 98', they gave away a free cruise for filling out the comment card. I wonder if they still do or did? My mind is going, it's getting close to doing the document dance and I can't even recall my own name?????

I actually, to my amazement, did "win" one of the HAL luggage bags - they are not the tote bags as someone mentioned in an earlier post, these are actually luggage bags and can be folded into a very small package so they can be thrown in your heavy duty luggage and used to bring home all those incredible bargains that you knew that you just had to have (and wonder what you are going to do with once you get them home).

It was aboard the Rotterdam as I recall. It was so funny because we were sitting outside on the Lido Deck with a couple whom we had been lucky enough to have as tablemates at dinner and the announcement came over the loudspeaker. I turned to Joan and said "puh (or words to that effect), I never pay attention to this anymore, I've never actually met anyone who has won......... and then my name and cabin number were called! It's a nice bag - not really heavy duty but sturdy enough to carry home dirty laundry - it's too bad that they award it to you after you've packed your dirty laundry but hey, there's always the next cruise:D

As I remember it the luggage bags were awarded on the Ryndam this past April/May. I honestly don't remember them being awarded May of last year aboard the Maasdam and I'm just not sure about the Statendam last October. I do remember that on a couple of cruises a few years ago some ships were giving some sort of china - plates I think, but I just didn't care if I "won" one of those or not.

Ruth C. - if you do "get lucky", can you see if he has a friend who might be available?

Valerie:D

They were doing the drawings on the Rotterdam a couple of weeks ago. The cabin next to mine won them on the second cruise. This same woman also won at bingo twice though...must be ultra lucky.

Hope she tried the casino also! ;)

On the last Mexico cruise on the Ryndam(April 2005) they had the usual drawing and gave out the same bags. Maybe they will do it as long as they still have a supply on board. We received one a couple of years ago and I thought it was too flimsy -- much prefer the heavier HAL bags they sell in the gift shop with wheels on them or my $5.00 Tote brand bags from our local outlet. I gave the one from the drawing away just last week to some friends to use in their car.
