Rare jimbo5544 Posted June 28, 2013 #26 Share Posted June 28, 2013 That's the only reason I don't object to people paying for FTTF. Platinum/Diamond members also get to go to their cabin as soon as they board the ship. That's a very nice new perk for us. And....no reason why they can't do that for Platinum for all ships and make it a real platinum perk.
judyzoo Posted June 28, 2013 #27 Share Posted June 28, 2013 You do not do this alone. You go to Guest Services and a uniformed member of the staff escorts you down to the tender area. They part the crowd for you and leave you at the front of the line and wish you a good day ashore. You do have to have thick skin as there will be all kinds of nasty comments made about "Who do you think you are?" etc. I have had people seated near us on the tender ask about it and when I explain that it is a perk for having made Platinum they seem to understand and express the desire to get to Platinum themselves. Thanks; I'll try it!
misguidedangel Posted June 28, 2013 #28 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Elaine, I was on the Sept 15th sailing. The ship had come from Belize and Customs decided to do a full, complete check on every single passengers getting off of the ship. B2B passengers didn't get off and go through customs until at least noon or later. As soon as they were cleared and escorted back on board they started to let us onboard. The Valor, who was behind us, started letting people off the ship extraordinarily late, still were onboard at 10am. They too were in Belize..... I bet your sailing had the same problem. kicia Posted June 29, 2013 #30 Share Posted June 29, 2013 We just came off the Carnival Dream Port Canaveral June 22. BTW... just learned that we could have had chocolate covered strawberries in the evenings.... if you like those, double check about this sweet treat when you board. Do you mean every night or just the one time per stateroom Platinum/Diamond perk? I've never heard that you can get it more than once per cruise but it would be nice. lego7191 Posted June 29, 2013 #31 Share Posted June 29, 2013 The room steward popped his head in and said "Welcome Home." I LOVE that! I wish they would ALL say that! One of the ships we sailed on had a "Welcome Home" sign hanging above it when we crossed the gangway after spending a day in Cozumel. One of my favorite pictures ever! martinchem Posted June 29, 2013 #32 Share Posted June 29, 2013 We always drop our luggage in the cabin when we board, then get on with our vacation.
Cruizinman Posted June 29, 2013 #33 Share Posted June 29, 2013 While some post that they have always gone straight to their room once they achieved Platinum, it was never an official CCL Platinum perk. They just did it on their own. DW and I have been Platinum quite a while, and our cruise on Fascination 6/1 was the 1st time we ever had early access to our room. Fascination has FTTF. Actually it was, and recommended by our PVP to do so.
Dolly1952 Posted June 29, 2013 #34 Share Posted June 29, 2013 On the Legend last Dec. we went through the double doors and took our carry on to the cabin. It was nice not having to carry it with us during lunch. Donna
Dickens94 Posted June 29, 2013 #35 Share Posted June 29, 2013 We were on the Ecstasy in May 2013 . As we entered the port at 10 we were directed to the VIP line, got our cards, escorted through all lines past many waiting to get on, asked someone about the closed doors they looked at our cards then opened the hall doors so we could go straight to our rooms, not a problem. Not one employee asked after we were in the hallway...as we came back out and headed to lunch we saw them turn others back if they did not have FTF, diamond or platinum cards Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

crusinpsychRN Posted June 29, 2013 #38 Share Posted June 29, 2013 I always take my stuff to the cabin right away. Just off Miracle to Alaska. When I boarded 12 min. after arriving, I went to my cabin. About 15 cabins away the room steward saw my card and said "Oh, welcome Carol! Your cabin is ready!" He only saw the silver card and knew who I was! Can't believe you have to ask for ice now...
Socref124 Posted June 29, 2013 #39 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Can you tell me if a ship does not have FTTF, can Platinum guests access their stateroom upon boarding the ship to just drop off luggage, etc.? I read conflicting answers regarding this and would like to know what the actual rules are. Thanks. The actual rule is NO, however, I have seen lots of people do it. If the room steward isn't finished with the room I wouldn't because he will leave the cabin door open.
Cruizinman Posted June 29, 2013 #40 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Cool, good for you. Our PVP had never recommended this, just not in the "know" I guess. LOL:cool: Whats even stranger than that she "PVP" also explained to me was that it was expected. She also explained to me that we do not wait in line when dining in the MDR. Now that one I did not do, we always waited :D But your dead right when you say it was good for us all tho;)

alabamaprincess Posted June 29, 2013 #44 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Just 1 evening and 1 plate per cabin. We ended up with three plates of chocolate covered strawberries because each of us (me, husband and daughter) are platinum. They all came on the same night. I think I'm the only one who ate the strawberries, but my daughter ate the chocolates which were also on the plates.:)

In fact you are the 1st I have read that received 1 plate per Platinum. Hope you enjoyed. We never eat all of them anyway. Although a nice gesture, would not bother us if CCL stopped this perk. So you see, not all perks are considered perks to everyone.
