Which side of the ship to book to watch pier runners?

We are planning on booking the Victory in August stopping at Key West and Cozumel. Just wondering which side of the ship should we book to watch any pier runners in Cozumel? Thank you all for any info!!:)

I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to it, but we've had more visibility of the gangways on the Starboard side of the ship.

Never heard of anyone planning their vacation around watching pier runners but if that floats your boat ( pun intended ) I am sure someone here can help you out :D

Don't quote me on this, but last time I went to Cozumel, the Magic docked with it's port side facing the gangway, and the Legend docked with the starboard side facing gangway. The Legend came into port first, so I think it may have something to do with the timing of the docking. Check who's going to be in port that day, and try to see if you're earlier (starboard) or later (port).

 

I don't know if that made any sense at all, or I'm just going crazy from not cruising in a while...

 

If not, public decks aren't that bad :P

We didn't get to see any pier runners in Cozumel. The line was still hundreds long when sail away (not all aboard) time came. People just slowly ambled on...

 

There may have been a runner who was like an hour or two late, but we gave up and went to dinner.

The Magic is Port side. We love watching the pier runners in Cozumel. In Key West, it was Starboard.

Definitely port side. And they are FUN to watch. Especially the REAL drunk ones that "stumble" back on the ship, or better yet, get "escorted" back by their better half, or a wheelchair. Some people just seriously OVERDO it in Cozumel. Nevertheless, FREE ENTERTAINMENT:D:D:D

Normally I would not believe this, but this is the Carnival threads....

 

Best side for 13 trips to Cozumel has been the port side. 11 of 13 times.

 

Matt... your killing me; the best ones we have ever seen were on the Rhapsody of the Seas days sailing 7 nights from Galveston. One face plant, dozens of lost shoes and one Mensa reject did a cannon ball from the pier...

 

Our Mark Spitz wannabe was promptly escorted by security ON the ship. Got that one on video.

In my photo you can see the 2 Carnival ships docked in Cozumel. The starboard side is on the pier of one ship and the port side is on the pier of the other.

 

So it just depends on which side of the pier the boat docks.

The best place is pier side aft. It could be on either the port or starboard side. Either way, watching those fools never gets old ha ha. Sometimes they make it......and sometimes they don't.
