Latkebabka Posted July 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2013 There's no reformer, chair, tower, etc. but there's a ball and you can do your own mat exercises.
jenidallas Posted July 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2013 Are there Pilates classes? Is there any Pilates equipment? Classes are via sign-up (the sheet is available the day before). Last time the first days classes had a waiting list before we left port (so get to the spa early if that's your priority). BUT... show up anyway if you are on the waiting list as people no show - and as the cruise wears on, the interest in classes dwindles and it's easier to get a spot! Stabilizer Posted July 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2013 Thanks, jenidallas, for the helpful tip. I'll put it to good use in October.
stamfordian Posted July 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2013 Always understood the pilates came on board just as we were on way into port...
nolatravelgirl Posted July 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2013 How intense are the classes? Would certainly like to join in as a newbie, but would hate to join if I were surrounded by those who know the poses and would roll their eyes as those less experienced. jenidallas Posted July 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2013 It's floor/mat work. Not super easy from what I heard (my cabin mate went while I hit the regular gym) but a cruise is a good time to try something new!
whystayhome Posted July 15, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Go to class and do what you can. Just focus on your own mat while you're there. It's your practice and no one else's.
Latkebabka Posted July 15, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Pilates should not be easy, even for the most experienced.

Would certainly like to join in as a newbie, but would hate to join if I were surrounded by those who know the poses and would roll their eyes as those less experienced. Most passengers on SB are relatively sophisticated, relaxed, and at ease with themselves. Thus highly unlikely to indulge in eye-rolling and other low-level, office-worker, competitive nonsense. You will find several newbies taking classes. This is part of your vacation. Do new things As someone who started Pilates 2 years ago I will tell you it is great. You really learn about the importance of good posture. I think it is fantastic. Keith
