Smart phones aboard the ship

Recommended Posts

I use my iPhone onboard but only for music, alarms, etc. most if the time it is locked in safe but I keep it on. Go to settings --> general --> cellular then turn off cellular roaming and data roaming. Then I put it in airplane mode. With it all turned off you can still have it search got wifi spots without turning on the roaming etc. (settings --> wifi) I always take a normal wristwatch into ports so it stays on ship time. I don't want my phone to switch time zones on me!

Many people with smartphones use their phone to tell the time instead of wearing a watch, and they may not think about this if they choose to lock their phone in the safe. They wouldn't want to be late for dinner!

Or worse yet, arrive late back to port!!
