Disembarking and Taxis in Sydney

Recommended Posts

Just after some info on disembarking the ship and taxi travel to Sydney airport.

- What time Would the Disembarking process be completed (ship due in at 7:00 am) ?

-If I self disembark, How early could I expect to leave the ship ?

- How long would a taxi trip from the international cruise terminal in Sydney to the airport take ( on a Monday morning ).

Disembarking is done extremely efficiently, after all they want us off as quickly as they can as only a few hours later anothe 2-3 thousand passengers are going to be boarding.

We self disembarked, it was very straighforward, might depend where you are coming from but on my most recent cruise on the carnival spirit to the south pacific, they even had the customs officers on the ship, so are cards were checked and anything we needed to declare was dealt with before we even left. We had a late flight so were in no hurry to get off, but they were in a hurry to get us off!!!

Other cruises we have done the first off thing.

There is no problem at all getting a taxi, they were queueing up waiting for passengers, so you can walk off the ship, out the door and into a taxi and be at the airport in about 40 mins depending on the traffic.

At the airport - now that's a different story. Be prepared for delays, delays and more delays. It's a fact that Sydney airport is very congested and flights are often forced to circle for a time before being able to land and that in turn delays the flight getting off again.

Hope this helps

Hi.. A taxi to the airport will be between $35-$45 and will take 20-30 minutes... Depending on traffic and if you're going to domestic or international terminal. If there is only one of you, you may want to jump on the train. The train station is 100meters away from the ship terminal and really well marked. However the fare to the airport is about $15 per person and if there is more than one of you it's easier to jump in a cab.

The train is a great efficient way to get to the airport, but only if you are arriving at the OPT by Circular quay and not the White bay terminal.:D
