yokeagan Posted July 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2013 We booked the Marseille & Aix en Provence tour through Norwegian. You meet the bus and then take a drive. Our tour hit Aix en Provence first but I will review Aix separately. The views along the coast were beautiful. Our tour guide was very good at pointing out interesting spots along the way. Our bus driver was amazing! I have no idea how he got the bus up the hill to the Notre Dame de la Garde! This tour take a stop to take photo's overlooking the old harbor. You can see the island that inspired the Count of Monte Cristo story from here. You then drive through Marseille and up the hill to the Notre Dame de la Garde. The views from the Notre Dame are stunning, both inside and out. You should note that there are 120 steps to reach the top of the Notre Dame. Totally worth it! We enjoyed the tour, especially the free time. Marseille Inspiration for Count of Monte Cristo Marseille Coast
yokeagan Posted July 25, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted July 25, 2013 Just a note, you do not have any free time to walk around the city of Marseille. You drive through it with one stop on the coast. You do have free time at the Notre Dame. Marseille

Goldygolfer Posted August 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Thank you for the great photos Yakeagan. We are spending 8 weeks in Marseille from mid-next month. Obviously not on a cruise this time. We are doing a home exchange. Your photos have tweaked my excitement. We are also looking forward to exploring the surounding area.
