Loved Rome! You can't do Rome in a day but we sure tried! We booked the Ultimate Rome tour through Norwegian. Started off by driving from Civitavecchia to Rome. We drove by the Palatino.

We hopped back in the bus to drive over to the Pantheon. We passed a section of the Forum on the way.

The Pantheon. The exterior is made up of 16 Corinthian columns made up of Egyptian granite. Inside it contains the tomb of Raphael, King Umberto I, King Vittorio Emanuele II, and Margherita of Savoy.

We met back up with our group and headed to the Vatican. I must say, this is where our guide, Tatiana, really shined. She has a masters in Art History and she was fantastic at describing the works of art, who created them, what technique was used, and why they are of importance.

We did tour the Sistine Chapel but photos are not allowed. It was beautiful. Next up, St. Peter's Basilica. Amazing! Words and photos can't even begin to describe the magnitude of this structure.

After that, they took us across San Pietro Piazza (there was quite a bit of scaffolding up there because they are cleaning the columns and such. Then we went across the street to a "gift" shop. Personally, I would have skipped this gift shop for one in the Vatican or at least spend more time in the square. I recommend that you walk back over to the square and walk around until it is time to meet the bus. Great day. Very full day. We were the first ones off the boat and the last ones back on. There is a lot of walking involved, so if you have mobility issues, this may not be a good tour for you.
