msstarr22 Posted August 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2013 I have to ask, as a person who tried  to be frugal, what was your lowest balance at the end of your cruise in the last 3 yrs? I limit it to that time frame as things have gone up in that time period!

I limit it to that time frame as things have gone up in that time period! Our last balance was $0.00 plus we got a check from Carnival for $92.00 which was left over from our OBC. We did have $500.00 of OBC on our last cruise on the Legend for the Baltic Sea cruise last month.
bar1068 Posted August 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2013 $1132....but we try to have fun and try less to be "frugal", so we stash cash away the months/weeks prior to cruising.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted August 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2013 I'm sure you will see lots of zeros. I think my lowest was $250. But it's usually around 4to500.

lovebelle Posted August 28, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Im a Frugal cruiser too and my lowest was around $120 (Alaska cruise traveled solo). Pretty much was gratuity and a couple sodas and drinks. Granted I am not a big drinker. If you add what I spent in ports for activities (unplanned excursions) that was probably another $100. Had a blast too!
All4fun&fun4all Posted August 28, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 28, 2013 A $60.00 credit! I have never come home with money in the past and was shocked when we came home with money on our December sailing.
Rare Tapi Posted August 28, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Our final bill on our Alaska cruise in June (family of 4) was $91 :D We do pre-pay as much as we can, (and for this cruise, that included tips, soda cards, and a shore excursion). If we had charged those onboard, our bill would've been more like $575.
sjcruiser Posted August 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 28, 2013 $320, plus $100 OBC. I spent half of the $320 in the casino, and most of it was won back, so I broke even there.

I limit it to that time frame as things have gone up in that time period! 71 cent S&S bill on a four day cruise back in June. I had a $50 OBC that paid for gratuities and two drinks. davy jones Posted August 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Our lowest S&S balance was the tips only. Our balances are usually pretty low. We are not particularly frugal. We book our own shore excursions and DW does not drink, so no bar tab. Many of the onboard extras don't appeal to us like bingo, the gift shops, the spa, and never ending "sales" of gold by the inch and watches. We would purchase more pictures if they would sell only the picture and not surround it with the promotional "framing"
near the beach Posted August 28, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 28, 2013 We have received refunds on our last five cruises. On the Dream we received $532 and on the Breeze we received $671. It all went to the next cruise.
cherbear4000 Posted August 28, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 28, 2013 I once sailed where my S&S only included the tips and nothing else. I had just lost my job one month prior to that cruise an couldn't afford to spend any money.
cruiseonthebrain Posted August 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Ours would have been zero- except for wedding pictures. Balance has run from 1200-3300.

Titan_Cruiser Posted August 28, 2013 #20 Share Posted August 28, 2013 We got a check back for $157. Did not prepay tips and had no OBC prior to the cruise, we did however get to yell B-I-N-G-O while on board. We are not really frugal but we do not drink and don't do the casino thing. We usually indulge in a dessert or two from the coffee shop, maybe a picture or two and of course bingo once or twice.
mcoakle Posted August 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Last year on the Celebrity Eclipse, my wife and I only had our gratuities on there. I think it was about $150. Full disclosure, we had the drink package but paid for it before hand. Usually our tab on a 4-5 day cruise will run about 7-800 dollars. On a 7 day, we'll be in the 1100-1200 range. kenrad Posted August 28, 2013 #22 Share Posted August 28, 2013 The question here probably should be...what's the lowest amount of charges on your S&S account "before deductions"? OBC or prepaid gratuities just artificially reduce the numbers. Last fall, the wife and I got away for about $175...and $161 of that was for gratuities. Carnival definitely lost money on us. minerva78 Posted August 28, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Our lowest balance was $286 on our last cruise, but that included gratuities, so about $171 for two of us over 5 days. We had drinks every night we went to the comedy club and a several more, bought two souvenirs onboard and a few specialty coffees. We saved by my husband not getting a soda card this time, and we instead brought more of our own sodas. We also didn't buy any pictures, we're just not into it as much now that we've been on several cruises.
kellylw Posted August 28, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 28, 2013 We're usually in the low to mid $200's. We drink, but not much. We book excursions privately. We never prepaid tips before so that was our biggest expense on all except our wedding cruise.
cruse2loose Posted August 28, 2013 #25 Share Posted August 28, 2013 pre paid for everything,no on board credit. My S & S was $7.71 a pack of cigs and a roll of tums. Don't drink or gamble, and do my own thing at port
