Pride of America LIFETIME DREAM TO PARADISE! by SunshineDawn

Ever since I was a child, I longed to visit Hawaii. August 1959 -- I can still remember running up and down my street in Brooklyn waving the flag with the new state added to it. This year for our 25 Anniversary, my dream came true! My DH and I flew to Honolulu and cruised the Hawaiian Islands. Searching the internet, I found many good reference sites: Cruise Critic became my bible. After a grueling 11-hour trip from Nashville through LA, a representative of Roberts Hawaii met us at the airport holding up a sign with our name on it. She greeted us Aloha with smiles and sweet-smelling leis. Our luggage was magically whisked away as we were escorted to the shuttle. We finally arrived in Paradise! Continue reading... Safari Endeavour Best of the Best in Alaska by travelbunnyvic

I made a commitment to myself to visit Alaska each summer and I've been successful so far. This year was by far the best trip I've ever had. I am not a fan of the big ship concept in Alaska. I want to see and enjoy the true Alaska and have seen how quickly a large ship in port can disrupt the entire experience. For this reason I restrict my travels to small ships that allow me to see and do things with minimal exposure to the unnatural side of life. My trip on Un-Cruise this year was aboard one of their luxury vessels, the Safari Endeavour. I learned that their luxury yachts are named "Safari ..." and their adventure yachts are names "Wilderness ..." Continue reading... Best of the Best in Alaska

Oasis of the Seas Let's Do This.... by aurorastorm

The beginning: In planning for our cruise we decided to extend our stay in Florida a few days before the cruise and a few days after, luckily our best friends, who were going on the cruise live in Florida, not too far away from Ft. Lauderdale. Our group consisted of 11 people, family and friends, age ranges from 12-75. How many people can say they traveled with their parents and in-laws and not only did everyone get along, we had a blast. Even though we got the e-mail that says not to come too early for check in, our friends very experienced cruisers, said let's just ignore that e-mail. Tip that some people do not know, for this ship, they allow each room to bring on two bottles of wine. Do not bring that wine to dinner to have them uncap, that will cost you $25.00, ask your steward for wineglasses, bring it to dinner in your own glass. Embarkation: For such a big ship, could not have been more smoothly. Our friends drove to the dock as soon as we got there it was raining really hard, but there were so many people directing that even with the rain, it was still so easy. We did not wait in any lines at all for embarkation got there at 11:30, by 11:45 were walking to the windjammer for lunch. At the windjammer we were told very busy and maybe to go to a different venue, we decided to wait. They did something that I have never seen before, because they were busy, they seated you, no looking for a table, walking around endlessly. The food there was fresh, plenty of it and not to crowded, especially once you realize there are two sides with the same food on both. Continue reading... Let's Do This....

Serenade of the Seas Outstanding ports, ship somewhat disappointing, excellent service! by loveandcruises

I am going to focus on the negatives first, just to get it off my chest, and then we'll get into all the good stuff! Royal Caribbean is cutting corners. Since I last cruised with them a year ago, they have gotten rid of the Assistant Cabin Stewards. Now the Cabin Stewards have to do double duty on their own. Also gone are the chocolates on the pillow, the stationery in the drawer and the pen (they couldn't keep the plastic pens?) And most unfortunately, there is no longer any lobster in the dining room on formal night. If you want lobster, you have to shell out (no pun intended) $34.95. They instead serve jumbo shrimps on formal night. Food costs are so low now that a salad is a dinner entree, as are beef sliders! (My advice: double your appetizers; they're really good!)You want to cut costs? Keep the lobster and cut out the towel animals; you'll save towels, water and electricity, as well as give the cabin stewards more time to make up the rooms without their assisants. Zaandam Experienced Cruiser's First Look at HAL, Zandaam Alaska with Denali by dataminn

Our group of three couples chose the Denali add on where we flew into Fairbanks, then took the scenic train to Denali, and a second scenic train to Anchorage, and a final scenic train to Seward before boarding the Zandaam for a downbound trip to Vancouver. Downbound is recommended as it provides the relaxation of the cruise after living out of your suitcase. The land portion of the trip was most impressive. Luggage Handling HAL excelled in this area. One bag stays with you and is in your various rooms before you arrive. The other goes directly to the ship from Fairbanks and is in your room when you arrive. Likewise, your luggage will be waiting for you in the airport in Vancouver. Outstanding! Continue reading... Experienced Cruiser's First Look at HAL, Zandaam Alaska with Denali
