Rome In Limo - Continuation of Previous Thread, Community Guidelines Apply

Dennis met us at our hotel near the Pantheon and we spent several hours walking through Campo De’ Fiori and the various markets and restaurants in that area. We began at a pastry shop for cappuccino and cannoli. We moved on to a pizza shop, a store selling meats and cheeses and toured the Campo De’ Fiori market as well, sampling olive oils and balsamic vinegars and such. We ended at a lovely restaurant for a pasta lunch prepared by the most delightful lady in her 80’s.

Dennis was engaging and so informative about what we were seeing and experiencing. The amount of food provided was surprising (in a good way!). We couldn’t begin to eat it all, so Dennis made sure any left overs were boxed up at each stop and we took it back to the hotel. All in all it was a terrific tour - maybe 3-4 hours in length.

How can we get in touch with Dennis for this tour? Do you mind telling me the names of the places for the pastry shop, pizza and lunch? This sounds like a wonderful tour and we love RIL!

The pizza shop was called Forno. The meat and cheese shop was Norcineria Viola. I did not take a photo of the pastry shop or restaurant where we had lunch, and don’t recall their names.  As for contacting Dennis, I’d just go to Rome in Limo’s website and send an email to Jany using their contact info. Then inquire about this tour and ask for Dennis if you’d like.  He really was terrific and it was a fun tour.

I am thinking we might want to do Rome In Limo, to see the Amalphi Coast from Naples.

I want to do the best of the best for that...  and not worry that they won't get us back to the ship.

Looking at their website for pre-cruise in Rome, or transfers to the port, they seem to be priced a lot more than similar options.  Maybe 50Eu more for the transfer to port.

Has anybody else run across this?    Am I reading this right?

Food and beverages were included.  It was a walking tour, so no transportation was required.  Dennis met us at our hotel which was an easy 5-10 minute walk to our first stop.  I'm sure if you were staying further away, they could make arrangements for you, though - possibly at an added cost.

Yes, it make sense if your hotel is in down town Rome.

Thanks a lot

We have tried to book our late May/early June 2020 transfers to/from Civitavecchia with RomeinLimo, but, unfortunately they are already fully booked on our dates. They suggested another company, ItalyPrivateExcursion, which has availability but seems a bit more expensive. I am also looking at RomeCabs, Rome Airporter, Rome Transfer Tour, Limousinecruiservice, among others. Several of these are well-rated on TripAdvisor. We are hoping to be picked up at Termini station and then transferred from Civitavecchia to a hotel near FCO airport after our cruise. Any suggestions on best service, rates, etc? Any of these to avoid?

Thanks!

We've used  Rome In  Limo on two cruises so far.  Both times we booked them for 3 ports each.  They are WONDERFUL!  In fact, last year while in Rome we decided to go with them again in Naples (the next day) and they were very accommodating.  If their prices are a little higher they are definitely worth it.  From the vehicle they pick you up in, the knowledgeable and friendly driver, the ease in which you can alter your excursion is well worth the difference in price.  The drivers are constantly in touch with other drivers and Jany and they keep each other informed of the traffic so if traffic is getting bad they will make sure that they are on the road in enough time to get you back to the ship.  The Amalphi Coast is beautiful!  You'll love it!  I am confident that you won't go wrong going with Rome In Limo.

We did a private.  The first time we used Rome In Limo we had two family members that had to drop out due to medical.  We found out after our excursion in talking with some people on the ship that they would have loved to join us.  The second time it was again just those in our party.

If you go to your ships forum and post your Rome In Limo excursion you may be surprised that there are people wanting to join you which will help with your budget.

There are quite a few companies that offer tours of the Amalfi Coast from Naples.

We did a W Med cruise in Sept 2019.   From my research, I had a list of a dozen vendors that I found from doing searches on cruisecritic.  Trip reports were the best resource;  I did searches on the Italy forum as well as several cruiselines.    italytours is the big one mentioned frequently. If you look back 4pgs you'll find a VERY long thread similar to this RIL thread.  ( I didn't use them because they wouldn't modify the itinerary to meet our needs)

Romeinlimo does a fabulous tour of the Aladdin coast and were happy to adapt to our needs.  The full Amalfi is beautiful ...,,go all the way to Ravello and have a nice lunch at a scenic restaurant.  You will not be disappointed and they always get you back In time.  They do this all of the time and I have been their client for years.  Have fun.  Ciao, Alice

I have used http://www.italyprivatexcursion.com in the past for my airport and port transfers and would highly recommend them.

Have fun planning 🙂

We've used Rome In Limo several times and I've haven't seen a better company.  We've used them for our own group and a couple other times we merged with people eon our ship.  Worked great either way.  Some of my favorite stories connect with RIL.  We still tell those stories.  And people I've referred tho RIL thanked me a lot.  I've been on dozens of tours from cruise ships and RIL is still the best.

Going with Rome in Limo in May for 3 ports. Messina Mt Etna and Tamaoria, Naples Pompeii and surrounding areas, and Rome on your own.  Jany has already been very helpful.

I wanted to share this review I did on another site many years ago.  We loved RomeinLimo so much that I have booked them again for a private tour during our Disney Cruise next May (even though we are doing Adventures by Disney for the whole cruise - yes, we are skipping ABD that day to tour with RomeinLimo instead).

We recently used RomeinLimo for 3 ports on our Mediterranean cruise.  [NOTE: This review is from 2011]

Naples - Our driver, Rafaelle, was fabulous! He was waiting for us when we disembarked the ship in Naples and took very good care of us from the very first moment. He was personable, knowledgeable, and fluent in English. He was an excellent driver such that I did not get carsick on the drive along the Amalfi Coast as I really thought I would. He made several stops for us to take photos and to explore Sorrento and Positano. He pointed out areas of interest as we travelled and he stopped at an overlook where we were able to buy some things at a roadside produce stand. He bought us some cherries that were absolutely delicious and it was small, thoughtful gestures like that which really impressed us about RomeinLimo. Rafaelle engaged the younger members of our party (17 and 18 and 23 years old) and had all of us singing "That's Amore!" at the top of our lungs in the car. He was wonderful! His recommendation for a lunch location was spot-on and we enjoyed a delicious lunch in a beautiful restaurant with excellent service.
RomeinLimo also arranged our tour guide for Pompeii. Lucia was beyond wonderful! She was entertaining, considerate and so engaging with all the members of our party. She was so respectful of the younger members of our party, as well, giving them kudos for tidbits of history they remembered learning and enjoying and engaging their input, rather than just giving a lecture. She was bright and energetic and made the city of Pompeii come to life for us!

When we return to Naples, can we request Rafaelle and Lucia?

Rome
Our driver in Rome was Maurizio and he was also prompt, wonderfully engaging and knowledgeable. He took us to Circus Maximus and showed us sites around the city before taking us to the Colisseum. When we were uncertain of how to get through the queque to use our pre-purchased tickets, he left the vehicle and walked us all the way into the building to the correct queque, obviously being very considerate of our comfort level in a strange place. Lunch was delicious at the restaurant he recommended where he also told us they made wonderful desserts, and my son says the dessert he had there "changed his life". LOL! We also loved our quick visit to the Trevi Fountain. When we arrived at Vatican City, he delivered us into the care of Sarah, a wonderful tourguide who packed more information into our time with her in the Vatican Museums than we ever could have imagined. It was such a rich experience, though having only 6 minutes in the Sistine Chapel and 10 minutes in St. Peter's Basilica just means we have to return to Rome.

LaSpezia

Our driver in LaSpezia who took us to Pisa and Florence was also named Maurizio and he was absolutely wonderful! So much so that my husband and I will return to the Tuscan region in the future and we will specifically seek him out as a driver for our visit. Maurizio was so smart and so fun to be with. He brought the area to life for us. We learned so much about everything we saw. There wasn't a question we asked that he couldn't answer. I almost wish he had been our tourguide in the Accademie and Uffizi Gallery because the kids were spellbound with the information he shared and the way he interacted with us. Which brings me to our only less-than-absolutely-fantastic component of the three days with RomeinLimo. Our tourguide for those two museums was a bit more of a lecturer than we'd encountered with our two previous tourguides (Lucia and Sarah). It may have been the long waits to get into the museum, the less than 30 minutes we had for lunch or just her style/presentation of the information, but for some reason we just were not as enthralled. The statues, paintings and tapestries we saw were fantastic but we might have enjoyed it a bit more with an audio tour.

So, there it is. RomeinLimo literally MADE our visits to these three Italian regions the most fabulous, fun, edifying experience that they could have been. I will not ever think of our days in Italy without thinking fondly of these people who didn't just drive us or give us a tour, but brought the experience to life for us in the most wonderful way. We were so appreciative to arrive in a strange place, see the smiling face of a person holding a placard with our party's name on it, and to be whisked away to see the wonder and beauty of Italy.

Date of experience: July 2011

Italy is suffering right now.

But when they are back online.

I would not think of going to Italy and booking any other company.

Used them for 2 cruises..... Total 6 ports.

They are the best

Ps. I just send them a mail.... They are all healthy and staying safe .

Hope everybody.... Everywhere.....the same....we will get through this global crisis together.

Just wanted to say Romeinlimo was fantastic about rescheduling my tours with them for next year.  I had already prepaid for a 2 day tour precruise and port tours in Naples and Livorno.  I emailed Jany and she immediately transferred my booking to next year on my rebooked cruise.  SO easy and painless.
