"Birthday gift" from CAS

Always Cruising

Recommended Posts

I received an email saying I would receive a surprise birthday gift if I sailed during my birthday month. Anyone ever receive a gift? It's probably dependent on previous play, but curious as to what it might be.

I don't know what it will be, but I just realized that I'm stepping on the ship right after my birthday, but it's a different month! Oh well.

I have gotten several of these. They are usually free casino play, $100-$300, but the problem is, they are not combinable with a comped CAS cruise, and sometimes not even combinable with the discount , so I've never been able to use them, even when sailing during my "birthday month".. Seems kinda cheap to me (to make it non-combineable) - if you play enough to earn a free cruise, what difference does giving us $100 free play make!

I sail ON MY BIRTHDAY, next year. Can I sign up for CAS before my trip in order to get the birthday offer and redeem it on my trip? Or do I HAVE to sign up in the casino?

It's something that CAS sometimes sends to past guests by email, enticing you to book another cruise. It usually can't be used on a previously booked sailing, isn't combinable with a lot of other discounts or OBcs, and is sent to past CAS earners only.

CAS is something you need to sign up for in the casino on the ship. Once you sail, play, and earn points, you can call CAS to see what they may offer you based on your earnings on your last sailing.

Ok. Thanks. I read about CAS on NCL's website. It seems like you really have to spend ALOT to get anything!!!

Yes, pretty much.. The #1 rule for gambling is NEVER play for comps. But for those that play anyway, it's a nice bonus lol..

I sailed on my first NCL cruise this year and the casino host comped my husband and I dinner at Teppanyaki for my birthday that was about 3 days in. So play in the casino a bit, get to know one of the hosts and see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised. :) But as another poster said, don't play in the casino just looking for free stuff.
