SelfCheckoutGuy Posted August 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2013 So I'm cheap and I love to see the sights and sounds (Example: I'll take my 3yr old on the local subway for an afternoon for a cheap train ride.) I am debating taking the #10 Jitney on it's entire route as a "cheap tour". Has anyone done this just for the sake of taking a tour? Would it be appropriate to tip the driver of the jitney if we do this. (After having my cruise ship gratuities removed, of course... I kid, I kid, just thought I'd through in a little CC humor). Any advice you can offer me on this would be great.
Rare CruisinCrow Posted September 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Why not! You'll need to pay for each leg - trip out, trip back. Still a bargain at $2.50 a person. :) I don't think tips are expected but I'm sure they are appreciated.
hannibal54 Posted September 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2013 I have gone as far as the bus would take me once. Then I got off and walked awhile back to the fish fry, then took the bus back to the port.
BananaAnna Posted September 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2013 I've done the ride-the-jitney route 3 times - once on the #10A and twice on #10. Cost for the entire route was $2.50 per person. I've only tipped once - driver seemed surprised but not offended. Multiple buses run the same route so if weather is particularly hot try to catch a jitney with air conditioning.
