Balcony dividers on the Epic

We were on the Epic last January and loved her so much we are going again in November. We are four people in two balcony cabins next to each other on deck 8. Can the room steward move the divider so we can have one large balcony?

We were in 2 mini suites this past Jan and they did not open the divider for us. Not sure if they "couldn't" or "wouldn't" but we did ask to have it done.

This was a fleet wide change quite some time ago. Was stated it was a safety issue. Dividers can only be open while in port and never at sea.

This question was recently asked at our meet and greet. We were told no because of the recent fires on other ships. The dividers stop the fires from spreading so quickly.
