Bases5 Posted September 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Is there decent shopping near the tender docks or is it just tourist stuff. If so how far is the best shopping. We are not going to have a lot of time after our excur
Capt_BJ Posted September 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2013 quality shopping is all within a few block area where tenders drop you. There are some specialty shops away from downtown, like Cathy Church' photo gallery & cameras at Sunset House, but your jewelry stores are mostly downtown. There's a Pandora store right under M'ville (was in March anyway!)
SeaBands Posted September 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2013 there are no good buys in GC. Save your money for other islands.

Capt_BJ Posted September 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2013 True ... you have to search out the typical tourist junk in Cayman and you won't find poor grade silver or pseudo gold in the jewelry shops. You might find a deal, but don't assume the prices are good - you need to KNOW your prices. Buying an expensive piece, the tax savings can be enough to make a difference. We picked up a couple of Pandora pieces in March and they were not something we could not get in the states and the price was the same as our local jewelry store ... we saved tax and can say we bought them in the islands; we bought a fish and a cruise ship charms. They did have VERY COMPLETE selection . . . 95% of what you buy in Cayman was imported to the island . . . and they have a HIGH standard of living. drew sailbum Posted September 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2013 I was recently pricing the a perfume at several locations in Cayman, Miami, and Panama. Prices were close but the best price was Cayman. I know that won't be true in all cases, but Cayman can be quite competitive with certain purchases.
