bb24 Posted September 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2013 We are sailing on Indy in November. There will be 5 ships total at the port that day, including Oasis!! Is it mangageable or mass chaos?? We want to be on the ship early if possible. What time do we need to arrive? We were thinking 10:30 or 11:00. Thoughts?? Rare Lionesss Posted September 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2013 That sounds good, 10:30. Just remember it will be crowded, but, all the ships will have there own waiting area in different parts of the port. Traffic will be your biggest concern, but cabbies, and transport services will keep it moving, as well as port security. Safe journey.. cjdixon4 Posted September 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2013 bb24- The problem won't be the port itself. Your ship will have its own terminal to embark passengers. If there are any delays it will be no doubt related to traffic, parking, baggage handling, etc. It's more likely that nothing will be a hindrance to you, as Port Everglades is accustomed to having several ships boarding on the same day. But if that's a concern to you, then the earlier the better. Gives you more time to have lunch and explore your ship! ;)
mrsdoc3 Posted September 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2013 We sailed out of Pt Everglades in March of last year, and I think there were at least 5 ships in port. We parked off property (I don't remember the name of the lot, but it is VERY close to the port, and was recommened on CC many times), and the shuttle driver got us through port checkpoints and to our pier in no time. I think we got to the lot around 10:15, and we had barely gotten the luggage out of the van when the shuttle showed up dropping returning cruises at their cars. TheMastodon Posted September 23, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Was there last year on busiest day of the cruise season and got to the port and on the ship with zero issues.
Lady Chew Posted September 23, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2013 We have sailed out of there several times, with as many as nine ships ... never had a problem with traffic getting into the port or with luggage ... we have had delays in the terminal however, of course they had nothing to do with any of the other ships
