dealic Posted September 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Has anyone traveled with a car seat? I am looking for logistics advice ;) We are going to be in St Thomas this November and would like to go to Coral World with our 19 month old daughter. I want to bring her car seat. What is the best way to do this? A taxi? Do the taxis there have the ability to install one? Would I need to uninstall it and keep it with me while there, or can I get someone to wait for us? Would that be too expensive? Is there a better option than a taxi? Is there a shuttle or transfer company I could book with in advance for this or should I just show up and find a taxi? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Mommy oooo Posted October 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2013 St. Thomas has open air taxis. I too have never seen anyone walk around with one. With my 2 DD's I never brought one along. I would have them sit in between DH and I. Remember not all places have strict car seat laws like they do in the US.
dealic Posted October 4, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Thanks for your feedback. I will consider my options with this in mind. It isn't the law I am worried about, except the law of physics :)
sail7seas Posted October 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Many taxis in St. Thomas are open sided vehicles that carry about 16 or so passengers on bench style seats. There is no way to secure a car seat. When we get off the ships and seek transportation to downtown or the beach, all of these open air vehicles are lined up at the pier. Rare mizLORInj Posted October 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2013 You can easily get a taxi upon arrival--just look for a car or a van. I think we had a vehicle like a Rav-4 earlier this year. You can also pre-book a taxi for your arrival.
