randyj266 Posted October 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2013 My wife and I want to do the hike up and over from Solmar to Divorce. Has anyone done it before? From what I've seen it doesn't get technical, our biggest worry will probably be cactus.
downsized Posted October 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2013 My wife and I want to do the hike up and over from Solmar to Divorce. Has anyone done it before? From what I've seen it doesn't get technical, our biggest worry will probably be cactus. Be very careful of the waves on the Pacific side (Divorce Beach) they can be extremely treacherous. People drown there, every year. Once you cross over to Lover's Beach, you will be on the Sea of Cortez, and the waters there are good for swimming and snorkeling. There are no facilities at either beach (no Cantinas, no bathrooms) although you might find someone selling beer and water from an ice chest, and that is fine. If you decide to make the trek, and once you reach Lover's Beach, if you don't care to make the hike back, you should be able to wave in a water taxi to take you either to the Marina, or Medano Beach. It's a nice boat ride to either. Have fun, but be safe!
Jeff in Torrance Posted October 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2013 I've not actually done the walk. But, a few years ago we were on the beach at Solmar when a middle-aged man and his young son walked by, and asked us if we wanted to walk to Divorce. We declined, but I can be done. I did climb a little of the way. Just have good walked shoes.
