Best way to "no-show"?

I told them at check in. Actually when only 3 of us were there, she said "Oh, is the other one not coming?" I had totally forgot that my other son stayed home at that moment [emoji15]. No big deal. She took his S&S card out of the envelope and said his taxes, fees, and tips would automatically be refunded to the card that final payment was made on. Sure enough it was there when we got off the ship in a week.

As above....just tell them at check-in. No big deal. The port fees and taxes will be refunded to the card used for the payment.

Thanks I've just heard of horror stories of people being charged single supplement when telling them there was a no show at check in

These post are quite old and I know the rules change often.  I am in the same situation this first week of 2020. Carnival Cruise. 4 person suite, however our daughter can not join us. Travel agent says to "no show" and we would just lose her fair, which I am ok with, however Carnival says, they would put us in a room for 3, which I am not ok with. If we do not say anything before the cruise and just show up without her, can they still downgrade our room?

In that scenario, Carnival keeps the fare for the cancelled person, and then will charge the remaining passenger a double fare as a single supplement. So don't tell them in advance. This is correct.  They wanted an extra 1000.00 for just me going rather than the 2 of us.  Yes, on top of the fee i paid for both of us wanted an extra 1000.  I said no way!! He will be a no show.

If you do the no show you won't lose your room at the dock. I had a 4 person room with 2 no shows and had no issues. Port fees and any prepaid gratuities will be refunded back to original form of payment. Never ever call Carnival and cancel someone unless you don't mind being moved into a lower occupancy room or worse yet going down to one person. In that case if you are in 100 percent penalty phase they take the other fare as penalty and you have to make up the difference in the single supplement

If you didn't cancel you don't have to worry about it. Cruise is several months away. I highly doubt they would note that you asked. And the fact is you have not cancelled so they won't do anything.

I called to take advantage of a price drop and casually mentioned I might be traveling solo on the cruise. It is a 9 night cruise out of Barcelona. I have to pay the fare whether my daughter goes or not so that doesn't worry me. The agent told me if I changed at this point (still before final payment due) there would be $800 in penalties. I find this ridiculous and hard to believe. To be safe, I may have to go with the no-show, also. I have booked several solo cruises and cannot believe it would be less expensive to book 2 in the room and then have them "no-show".

I think another thing people should keep in mind is what kind of fare you booked. For instance if you are new and the person that booked the cruise is a past guest and booked at a past guest rate... could that make you have to pay more upon boarding? Would you be forced to give up the cabin?

Or if the person booked under a special rate, such as casino, and no one else in the cabin has that rate,  and they cancel, would the same thing occur?  Lots of ifs and buts to catagorize it in one way.

Ok so our cruise is 60 days away and I was just told by my boss that I am being trained for a job that I have waited over a year for, and the training falls right during  the cruise dates. We are trying to find another friend to be dh's roommate but since we were going with a fairly large group of friends, DH plans to go with or without a plus one. So I guess I will be a no show if we don't get a roommate. No way does it make sense to pay a single supplement!

if a cabin is  booked at a Casino rate, and something comes up that the person that booked it can't go and the others in the cabin don't qualify for casino offers, what happens to the others booked in the cabin? does it get cancelled at the port if the person no shows? Haven't had this happen and hopefully, never does. This is something to consider when booking if only one person has the casino offer.
