Queen of Oakville Posted October 10, 2013 #51 Share Posted October 10, 2013 lol - I should have said "preferences of port or starboard". It appears the question was too specific. Maybe it should have been amendind to, in general, "what are your cabin preferences, and why"? There are absolutely people, like you, who don't have a preference regarding which side of a ship they book but seek other options. Your comment is certainly interesting, though, seeing you really do have a preference.:)
Mapleleafforever Posted January 1, 2014 #52 Share Posted January 1, 2014 I never thought I had a preference before but I just noticed that all of our cruises have been starboard side. We'll try port side on the next one. Hump I hope.

Clarea Posted January 1, 2014 #55 Share Posted January 1, 2014 As crazy as it may be we pick which ever side has the laundry room. That would be difficult on Royal ships.;)

PLEIKU68 Posted January 1, 2014 #59 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Just curious which side of the ship you prefer and why. We are on the port side for our next cruise. Usually prefer the side above the water. :)

xray Posted January 1, 2014 #61 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Our only preference is a balcony above the waterline. For our next cruise we chose a port side balcony on the Allure Eastern Caribbean itinerary mainly for the harbor views. If that does not work out good then there's always the next one to get it right. Xray
WetToes Posted January 1, 2014 #62 Share Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) A balcony above the waterline. That's a bit much to ask, isn't it? ;) HAPPY NEW YEAR! Edited January 1, 2014 by WetToes

K1200S Posted January 1, 2014 #66 Share Posted January 1, 2014 I have no preference what so ever. If I can't see the port from my cabin I know I can from somewhere on the pool deck.
Rare Lionesss Posted January 1, 2014 #67 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Last summer we had an CL on the Allure facing the back, this summer we booked a cabin on starboard..........for the Western Carribean. Sea Ya

taxgal Posted January 1, 2014 #69 Share Posted January 1, 2014 It does not really matter port or starboard....shade on the balcony is important so my DH reviews the itinerary and determines which side has more afternoon shade on the sea days. Hoopster95 Posted January 1, 2014 #71 Share Posted January 1, 2014 All these mentions of aft has me wanting to try an aft one day Yes, an aft cabin definitely a must-do! My preference is more proximity to the centrum/elevators than side of ship. However I never realized before that the Vision (and I understand all Vision class ships have this??? correct me if I'm wrong please) have a small staircase approx 6 cabins up from the aft of the ship on the starboard side from deck 8 to deck 9. So when I left my aft-starboard cabin, I would walk about 10 steps up the hall, quickly go up about 12 steps and I'd be up in front of the spa reception!! Super easy access to the gym and Solarium/Park Cafe. This was WAAAAAAAY better than walking all the way down the hall to the centrum stairs and up to top deck, then all the way back again. So if I ever get a suite again on a Vision Class I'll be looking at the Starboard side.:)

roysmith99 Posted January 1, 2014 #73 Share Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) I have no reason, other than habit, but I usually book port side. However, on our upcoming TA from Miami to Europe I wish I had managed to get Starboard as I think we would get more sun on our balcony. We did have an aft cabin once, a very good cabin with great veiws, but a long way to walk to and from the lifts (Jewel of the Seas). fergusonvt Posted January 1, 2014 #74 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Aft or corner aft (either side). The exception will be 2015 when we'll have a forward pent house.
