chauncy's wife Posted October 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2013 I will be on Roatan in November & will be doing the Tabyana excursion. Last time I was there, there was a guy walking on the beach around selling hand rolled cigars and holding a beautiful hand carved wooden ship. This trip I want to purchase one of the hand carved wooden pieces. Can anyone advise where would be the best place to purchase one given the constraints of the excursion since the van/bus only stops at Tabyana? I hesitate to purchase something from the tourist village & would rather give my money to the locals. Should I buy from someone on the beach or is there a shop close by to Tabyana I could walk to? caribsun Posted October 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2013 Our tour driver dropped us off at downtown Coxen Hole. Plenty of shops selling beautiful wood cravings. We purchased a sugar bowl that we use and a crucifix.
szdiver Posted November 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2013 We went to a Mahogany Shop where we purchased a piece signed by artist. Be very sure your piece is sealed or shellacked because of bugs....
