Hi Everyone,

I know the announcement is today, been confirmed by Captains Club.

Here is the first definite change:

POINTS SYSTEM - Celebrity is changing the way you can earn credits for your loyalty status. Points will be rewarded for a variety of reasons (details to still be confirmed) but have been told will be length and cabin type.

Also it seems Celebrity is using extra points to entice customers to book. In an upcoming Celebrity Cruises campaign customers will be offered additional points if they book before a certain date. Sorry TA's aren't allowed to say much more than that at the moment, that's all I can give you about this.

Keep the new details posted here everyone as and when they come out (full details will be known by the end of today/tomorrow.)

It will be interesting to see how we will be affected by any changes.

If Celebrity are counting days then this could be the end of Elites with zero or less than 70 points - The long overdue CULL has commenced ?!:D;)

Port Royal,

By this do you mean a point a night?

And surely anyone who has reached Elite will not be 'downgraded'.

That would make very poor business since as a 5 day short cruise in an aqua suite would be worth 3 points as would 14 days in an Aqua cabin yet one could cost more than the other.

Hopefully the news will be out soon.

However I can not see it making that much difference to the majority of cruisers.

Yes one point per night

And surely anyone who has reached Elite will not be 'downgraded'. Yes if not accrued the minimum number of days.

Hopefully the news will be out soon. Today?

- Only difference will be to those without the minimum number of Celebrity points. Edited by PORT ROYAL

If X uses loyalty credits similar to what ones gets currently on RC with their Crown & Anchor program you would get one point for each night onboard and double the credits for being in a suite thus a 5 day short cruise in an aqua suite would get 10 points and 14 days in an Aqua cabin would get 28 points.

The current Capt's Club program give a extra cruise credit for being in an Concierge Class cabin or higher and gives an extra cruise credit for being on a 12 night or longer cruise so the 5 day short cruise in an Aqua suite gets 2 cruise credits and the 12 night gets 3 cruise credits.

Also no one lost their C&A status when RCI did their conversion and a few actually gained a higher status with the introduction of the Emerald level.

With your premise accepted, then by the same token, Elites with Zero Celebrity points have their Elite status immediately removed (Culled).:D

Only if both eliminates the reciprocity benefit for equivalent status with the other listed in their loyalty programs.:D

This is what RC shows as a benefit with their current day point program and X's current loyalty program list the same benefit so IMO the new one have it also.

Equivalent Recognition is a program that offers Crown and Anchor, Captain's Club, and Le Club Voyage loyalty members the opportunity to receive recognition and similar benefits when they sail with one of the three brands - both pre-cruise and onboard with matching tier status; however Cruise Points will remain according to actual cruises taken and calculated using the Program level accrual system for Crown & Anchor Society. Members of one program must enroll in the sister program in order to receive equivalent recognition benefits.

The only way to go! - This way the reciprocity allocated D's are also culled.:D

This won't affect us as we have enough cruises with each to have the status we have but others would likely see this a major benefit reduction of RCCL loyalty programs.

If we now potentially get more points per cruise, then I would assume that the point requirements change for each level.

I wonder when this will go into effect? I just made select and unless they convert the old points to new points, I'm likely to get bumped down.

We have a cruise booked for January and it would be nice to enjoy the few Select perks before I get moved back down again ;)

Only those with a benefit without having fully paid their dues:D

Do I feel sorry for them - Sadly no!;)

We also earned our status on both lines the old fashioned way. But some might consider losing reciprocity a loss of a benefit from the Celebrity perspective. An Elite on Celebrity would lose Diamond on RCL and thus not be eligible for the balcony/suite discount (which can be up to $325).

I don't see dropping reciprocity happening, but it would be nice if they set the bar for any higher levels high enough to keep the numbers down. And I say that even if it means we don't make it yet. If too many people qualify for a benefit, you can be sure that it will be diminished in value.

You have earned Elite and will earn Diamond and be proud of your achievements, same being not handed to you on a plate.

Not only diminished in value, but in the longer term financially unsustainable for the Cruise Line, then being totally removed or benefits drastically reduced.

Exactly.

While we have 44 points (where RCL's Diamond + required 24 in the old system), I would be OK if a higher level than Elite started at 50. Of course, that would make reciprocity more difficult but would probably allow the benefits to be more robust.

Like everyone, I enjoy getting perks but, unlike many people, I understand that they have an underlying cost.

If YOU do not lose any benefit, why does it make you happy to think others may lose? It will have no effect on your benefit? As for one “not paying dues” - in my case, I believe that sailing over 500 combined actual nights with the parent company of RCCL Celebrity and Azamara , more than pays dues.

A cruiser sailing with the company reciprocity agreements is not doing anything improper, they are playing by the rules and simply accepting the company benefits, much like a Celebrity cruiser accepting a free gratuity or a free drink package.

Further, there are many M Life players sailing RCCL and getting great benefits on their first ( and generally free) RCCL cruise. Good for them!

You may not feel sorry if one loses benefits, but I feel sorry for you.

Good to see that there are those who already have it all figured out, even though details have not been announced. Wish I were that smart.

Ha, Ha:D

Note your dues are paid to Celebrity & Azamara (I am the same), but you do not appear to have paid specific dues to the RCL Brand.

The discussion was not intended to be opened out to "M Life" which is a totally separate issue and therefore any attempt to deliberately add confusion is rejected.

Only sad if one suffers a loss of benefits which are fairly earned and thereby entitled.

I had no intention of adding confusion to the subject – it is quite simple for most. M life players get benefits their first time on RCL and the benefits are generous.

By your reasoning only a patron of a specific cruise line should get any benefit and no reciprocal benefits, regardless if they are from another cruise line, hotel/casino property, airline, credit card etc., should be awarded. So, by your reasoning, any M Life player should not be entitled to any RCL benefits.

Once again, if your benefits are not affected, why does it matter what others receive?

M
