Hi Everyone,

 

I know the announcement is today, been confirmed by Captains Club.

 

Here is the first definite change:

 

POINTS SYSTEM - Celebrity is changing the way you can earn credits for your loyalty status. Points will be rewarded for a variety of reasons (details to still be confirmed) but have been told will be length and cabin type.

 

Also it seems Celebrity is using extra points to entice customers to book. In an upcoming Celebrity Cruises campaign customers will be offered additional points if they book before a certain date. Sorry TA's aren't allowed to say much more than that at the moment, that's all I can give you about this.

That would make very poor business since as a 5 day short cruise in an aqua suite would be worth 3 points as would 14 days in an Aqua cabin yet one could cost more than the other.

The current Capt's Club program give a extra cruise credit for being in an Concierge Class cabin or higher and gives an extra cruise credit for being on a 12 night or longer cruise so the 5 day short cruise in an Aqua suite gets 2 cruise credits and the 12 night gets 3 cruise credits.

Also no one lost their C&A status when RCI did their conversion and a few actually gained a higher status with the introduction of the Emerald level.

This is what RC shows as a benefit with their current day point program and X's current loyalty program list the same benefit so IMO the new one have it also.

 

Equivalent Recognition is a program that offers Crown and Anchor, Captain's Club, and Le Club Voyage loyalty members the opportunity to receive recognition and similar benefits when they sail with one of the three brands - both pre-cruise and onboard with matching tier status; however Cruise Points will remain according to actual cruises taken and calculated using the Program level accrual system for Crown & Anchor Society. Members of one program must enroll in the sister program in order to receive equivalent recognition benefits.

If we now potentially get more points per cruise, then I would assume that the point requirements change for each level.

 

I wonder when this will go into effect? I just made select and unless they convert the old points to new points, I'm likely to get bumped down.

 

We have a cruise booked for January and it would be nice to enjoy the few Select perks before I get moved back down again ;)

I don't see dropping reciprocity happening, but it would be nice if they set the bar for any higher levels high enough to keep the numbers down. And I say that even if it means we don't make it yet. If too many people qualify for a benefit, you can be sure that it will be diminished in value.

While we have 44 points (where RCL's Diamond + required 24 in the old system), I would be OK if a higher level than Elite started at 50. Of course, that would make reciprocity more difficult but would probably allow the benefits to be more robust.

 

Like everyone, I enjoy getting perks but, unlike many people, I understand that they have an underlying cost.

A cruiser sailing with the company reciprocity agreements is not doing anything improper, they are playing by the rules and simply accepting the company benefits, much like a Celebrity cruiser accepting a free gratuity or a free drink package.

 

Further, there are many M Life players sailing RCCL and getting great benefits on their first ( and generally free) RCCL cruise. Good for them!

I had no intention of adding confusion to the subject – it is quite simple for most. M life players get benefits their first time on RCL and the benefits are generous.

 

By your reasoning only a patron of a specific cruise line should get any benefit and no reciprocal benefits, regardless if they are from another cruise line, hotel/casino property, airline, credit card etc., should be awarded. So, by your reasoning, any M Life player should not be entitled to any RCL benefits.

 

Once again, if your benefits are not affected, why does it matter what others receive?
