Help needed with some South American Ports

We are looking into the Princess Cruise BA to LA in Feb.2015 (Yes I know it seems a long way off). We have been reading through pages and pages of these threads (going back some 12 months or more) and have some terrific information on the various ports - thanks to you all.

Information seems to be fairly scarce however on a few ports and we would welcome any information. Generally we do a lot of walking around port cities etc and probably only take excursions (particulalrly from the ship) when it seems appropriate in terms of distance, safety etc. The ports we need some help on are:-

La Serena (Coquimbo) - Chile

Pisco (San Martin) - Peru

Lima (Callao) - Peru

Puntarenas - Costa Rica

San Juan Del Sur - Nicaragua

Cabo San Lucas - Mexico

If you can help it will be much appreciated. Thank you:)

At Conquimbo-La Serena March 2012 we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the beautiful Elqui Valley with Daniel and Judith Russ of Jeep Tour La Serena. Do not fear, you are not tossed around in jeeps but driven in comfort in modern all wheel (four-wheel) drive vehicles. Daniel and Judith were excellent hosts and answered our many questions about life in Chile. They are fluent in English, Spanish and German. They will tailor the tour to suit the requests of their guests.

Web-site is http://www.jeeptour-laserena.cl/eng

Or google Jeep Tour La Serena.

We did a cruise in December 2011 on Infinity and stopped at Lima, La Serena, and other ports on the West coast of SA.

I highly recommend a tour company in Lima. We had a great tour with Monica.

Don't miss the Pachacamac Temple Ruins.

For La Serena you can DTY. We did the Coquimbo walking tour and discovered that we could have skipped the tour and done it on our own. Also, probably should have gone to La Serena instead.
