Hanging clothes space-Has it gotten smaller?

On a very recent cruise on the Grand Princess we were assigned an ocean view room on Emerald Deck. When we started to unpack we found that the closet seemed to be much smaller on our previous cruises. We are Elite, so we do have some previous experience. It seemed to us that this particular closet was about 2/3 the space of our previous cabins.

Just wondering if anybody else has experienced or noticed this? Or did it have something to do with the location as we were at the front of the ship?

The Grand was the first of its class of ship, and, yes, the closets on that ship are smaller than on all the Grand class ships that followed.

So the closets have not gotten smaller. They all got larger after the Grand.

I just looked at the balcony cabin plans of C deck on the Emerald (new Princess site). The wardrobe hanging space also appears to be smaller, than say the Diamond's. Is the Emerald in the same class as the Grand and should expect a smaller hanging space?

My guess is there is 3ft of hanging space on the Emerald as opposed to the approx 6ft on the Diamond.

Here is a picture of most of the closet on the Emerald. Definitely wider than 3 feet.

Second picture is from the Diamond. Looks about the same to me.

I definitely noticed less hanging space on the Royal. If I remember correctly, the Inside closet was different from caribill's photos in that the shelving is now at one end of the rack, making the rack shorter. The bathroom door is where the shelving is in the photos.

I don't know if this difference is ship wide, all Insides, or just in the aft-to-stern Inside cabin layout that we had (with the door on the side of the cabin rather than on the end).

Closet on the Royal. Please notice shelves are not inside the closet space, but beside the closet. Bathroom door is to the left - notice the bathroom door handle.

What kind of cabin did you have?

I've definitely seen pictures of the closet where the safe takes up the entire width of the shelf and remember someone commenting that only one row of folded clothing would fit, rather than the two rows on previous ships.

Below are pictures of the closet space on an inside sideways cabin on the Emerald Princess. These closets had doors.

We were in M426.....one of the inside cabins that runs 'sideways' from the balcony cabins (there seem to be a lot of this type of inside cabins on Royal).

The closet layout is different than any of the pictures here. I didn't take a picture of it. I just noticed that the hanging space is less than insides that we've had on Grand class ships. It was enough for us, but we're very light packers.

For all Grand class ships, the Princess website shows the cabin plans for the Grand although that is the only ship with that closet arrangement. It can be confusing. The Emerald has the same larger closet space as on all other Grand class ships after the original Grand.
