cabinboy1945 Posted November 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2013 We are planning on taking 2 bottles of wine on board with us to drink in the evening on our balcony. We have never done this before and would like some ideas on how to carry it without to much bother, as far as protecting them from breaking. Cheers! Or, buy a couple of the bottle protectors made of bubble wrap...and it will be safe in your luggage. They sell a "two pack" at Total Wine.
cabinboy1945 Posted November 25, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Thanks, I was thinking bubble wrap or wrapped in a towel.
Typhoon1 Posted November 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Bubble wrap them and you won't have a problem.

We have never done this before and would like some ideas on how to carry it without to much bother, as far as protecting them from breaking. Cheers! It all depends on when you will be embarking on your cruise. ;) After January 31st., 2014, ONLY ONE 750 ml bottle of wine per person, will be permitted! :(
jtl513 Posted November 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2013 It all depends on when you will be embarking on your cruise. No it doesn't. "We are taking two bottles ..." is only one bottle per person.

llbz327 Posted November 25, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2013 the way I read it he is taking 1 bottle per person. 2 people =2 bottles.
jtl513 Posted November 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2013 John, (re)read my post!"We are planning on taking 2 bottles of wine on board with us ..." means one bottle per person , so it makes no difference whether their cruise is before or after Jan 31. marycang Posted December 2, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Plastic bottles in your luggage. works everytime. Empty water bottles and fill with wine.
mamaofami Posted December 2, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Plastic bottles in your luggage. works everytime. Empty water bottles and fill with wine. Are you doing this to prevent breakage or to sneak wine on board? I know they said a bottle each, but wondered if this was your suggestion to do after January 31. innlady1 Posted December 2, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Plastic bottles in your luggage. works everytime. Empty water bottles and fill with wine. I found wine last year in the shopping area at Mahogany Bay in plastic bottles. I saved them for the longest time...such a good idea for traveling! PunkiC Posted December 2, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 2, 2013 I bought wine in plastic bottles at the airport. It wasn't cheap and it was horrible. Never again.
startwin Posted December 2, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 2, 2013 I don't think I would want to try wine from a plastic bottle...... however, I recently found a very nice Australian chardonnay in a small box - but it is still a little over the new limit that HAL has implemented, at 1 litre. YubaSutter Posted December 2, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 2, 2013 John, (re)read my post! When the OP said "we" will be taking 2 bottles of wine, it implies more than one person.:rolleyes::rolleyes::eek:
Rare kazu Posted December 2, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Just one note in case the OP is sailing after January 31st, 2014 - at that time the wine must be carried on as I understand the new rules.
