oct696 Posted December 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2013 We're sailing on the Epic Jan 11-18th and am wondering if anyone knows if they will be showing the NFL playoff games on the big outdoor screen (I assume they'll be shown in O'Sheehan's as well)? Sailed on the Coral Princess 2 years ago during playoff season and saw all the games!! Woo-hoo!! Hope to see them this time, too. Thanks!

david_sobe Posted December 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Yes they will show the games in the atrium. I don't think they show them in Spice though. I don't remember seeing them there. I remember them being played on the TV's in Bliss too.
wheatengirl Posted December 5, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 5, 2013 On our Thanksgiving week cruise they kept showing soccer. ESPN must have been on the international channel because all week it was soccer and cricket. There wasn't even a crawl at the bottom of the screen with scores or anything. Will never cruise during football season again.
Cretia Posted December 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) You know, with the NFL's interest in expanding the international market, they are missing out on a prime opportunity here. They could give cruise lines deals for their channel/games which would increase exposure to the game. And it's not exactly like the cruise lines are loaded with tv channels. That being said, I'm not wild about traveling during the season. Traveling during the playoffs?! Blasphemy! bean24 Posted December 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2013 I've cruised numerous times during the playoffs, not only have they always shown the games they have done boxes in the casino and provided football appropriate snacks.

AND I understand re: blasphemy! Wouldn't do it if it weren't for the 'free' cruise. :D Lucked out on the Coral Princess I guess. It was sooooo much fun hanging out on the deck watching the games on their huge outdoor screen!

Ooooh, hope that is the case for this cruise. I called the cruise line and all they could tell me was that it is up to the captain re: what is shown. Out to sea! Sailed on the Coral Princess 2 years ago during playoff season and saw all the games!! Woo-hoo!! Hope to see them this time, too. Thanks! I was on for Thanksgiving week and all of the games were shown in the Atrium. Some were also telecast on the H2O screen as long as it didn't interfere with a pre-planned party (the afternoon games on Thanksgiving were on the H2O screen but not the late night game due to the White Hot party). abbo1963 Posted December 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 8, 2013 From NCL site Weekly Themed Slot Tournaments [ January 1 to February 3, 2013 ] If football is your game, we have planned a series of themed slot tournaments beginning January 1 through the Big Game February 3, 2013. Player Buy-In for the slot tournament includes a tailgate party with great food and special drink. You can also bet on one of our weekly betting boards. We encourage you to bring your favorite NFL hometown team jersey and proudly wear them for the tournament or while watching football in the Casino. We'll kick off the slot tournaments with football themed choreography to get your adrenaline going. Get your own pep talk from a friend, or even from yourself, before you hit the casino. It never hurts to have cheerleaders. Oh yea, did we mention there will be cheerleaders? The referee will be prepared to have you "take the field", so know your playbook and be ready to win! Will never cruise during football season again. We left on the Breakaway on a Sunday out of NYC in Oct so the 1 pm, 4 pm, & night game were on the TVs, even on the big screen in H2o. As the week went on only the National league games were played, on an East Coast sailing with a lot of Boston people on the ship; look at the roll call NCL. So as the week went by only NL games, when the NLCS was over and there was an ALCS game being played, all the TV's in all the bars & casino were playing SOCCER. I asked members of the cruise directors and was told sorry, but any who,,,, the Redsox WON.

SeaHunt Posted December 8, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) Looking at the dailies from our Epic cruise last January, at 1:00 on the Atrium huge screen they showed the Seahawks vs Falcons and at 4:30 it was the Texans vs the Patriots. We were sailing with friends, and I remember my husband and friend grabbing a seat at O'Sheehans that overlooked the huge screen in the atrium below while our friend's wife and I were in and out in of there between exploring the ship (seems there were some jewelry/perfume seminars/shopping that desperately needed our attention then, along with a Margarita tasting LOL) It was a loud and raucous group of fans - and a great time was had by all :D BTW they even had the "cheerleaders" there too (didn't ask, but thought the girls were probably from the dance crew) dressed in little cheer outfits in team colors to get the crowd going - husband and friend really appreciated them :) Edited December 8, 2013 by SeaHunt
