Catrin Posted December 11, 2013 #101 Share Posted December 11, 2013 I think it is great that Carnival is finally revamping their decade old menu.... and actually trying something new. I am sure what we see today with the new Glory menus will go through a few changes before the menu hits the entire fleet.... But... Until then... PLEASE!! No new menu yet on the Magic in April! I need just ONE MORE taste of Bitter N Blanc. One more Basa Fillet. One more Raspberry and Chocolate Cake. Ok.. ok... TWO more Bitter n Blanc. :D As silly as it is.... we are lucky to cruise once a year. And having something like Bitter n Blanc once a year is actually Special! We are sad to see our favorites go, but I am sure this new menu will create new favorites and new memories for our family. Catrin
2 cruzen Posted December 11, 2013 #102 Share Posted December 11, 2013 JH just posted a link to all the menus on his Facebook page!!!!!!!! Skimmed through them. DH and I can find something to eat but my favorites are gone. No more martini braised Basa and the desserts don't look that great. Vegetarian might have a hard time some nights. Grand Mariner Soufflé and Bitter n Banc are GONE! :(:(:( Also no Creme Brûlée, WAH See you are on Liberty, as I am in April, so I guess we will see. But, I agree, sad about the desserts. Maybe I won't gain any weight this time!:D
bernardch Posted December 11, 2013 #103 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Cuisine? Try Michael Symon's Roast, Downtown. SO GOOD! Or Brizola inside Greektown Casino. I haven't eaten at Roast, but I have eaten at all of Michael Symon's restaurants in Cleveland. There's a reason he's one of the Iron Chefs. Also any of the Greek restaurants in Greektown. For authentic Polish food, Polonia in Hamtramck; was featured on Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations."

Hard to believe they would just eliminate it.
Cruizinman Posted December 11, 2013 #105 Share Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Your K&W must be much better than ours! I truly enjoy the food on Carnival it is not why we cruise but I always find items each night that I like. I guess we should compare, ;) Some day :) Edited December 11, 2013 by Cruizinman

golfadj Posted December 11, 2013 #107 Share Posted December 11, 2013 What is a K/W? It is a cafeteria. Many like it but not a fan of cafeteria foods that sit out for long periods.
Waterloomarc Posted December 12, 2013 #108 Share Posted December 12, 2013 I actually read of the demise of the bitter and blanc on the NCL board. I'm about to have go mourn. That was my favorite thing on the ship. Bar none. Maybe I can still get in on the fascination next month. Might actually buy the cool book now to see how it's made. I'm indifferent toward the rest but dang why couldn't they dumping that disgusting chocolate cake batter crap instead of the clearly superior bitter n blanc ;) (ducks and runs for the door) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
saphir Posted December 12, 2013 #109 Share Posted December 12, 2013 I actually have to agree with you on that Amber, And I myself don't know what all the fuss is about. Its a stupid table cloth!! as long as the tables are clean AE not sticky and the food and service is good Im a happy camper. Now I don't like Red lobster myself ( not a seafood fan but the cheese biscuits are the best ever there!!! ( Did you know Walmart sells them now to make yourself:p) Delish, As for Olive garden I love Love Love The soup and salad. So for Carnival haters and Lovers alike.. Its a piece of cloth that really doesn't change the way the food tastes! and apparently on elegant night the table cloths are back on for a more formal way of eating. Its all good! Just don't take away the WCMC EVER or the bread. please don't take away the bread! lol! Why Carnival should look like has a chain restaurant (Red Lobster or Olive Garden). When I do a cruise it is to have something different and a little more upscale, IMO.

Name Of The Game Posted December 13, 2013 #118 Share Posted December 13, 2013 You don't have to stick around after dinner for their weak dessert selection. Go to the cafe for a huge wedge of their carrot cake for three bucks....delicious!

PresDuLac Posted December 14, 2013 #120 Share Posted December 14, 2013 I can NOT imagine being soooooo in love with a piece of fabric or a particular food of any kind so much that not having it available would affect the enjoyment of my evening - on land or at sea - at all. Weird... jmo and ymmv
dadroy Posted December 14, 2013 #121 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Sometimes a guy just needs his underwear. Cannot go commando! I prefer underwear just as much as I prefer a table cloth. Will I commit suicide without it, NO. But much prefer it. I read one of the lines has eliminated the top sheet on the beds. Will it ruin my night? No, but sure do like the top sheet. Would plastic forks and knives and paper napkins ruin my meal?? No, but I like real metal utensils. Could you live with the plastic? If not, aren't you the same. Lets go Moroccan, eat with our fingers. It won't ruin my meal, but still like forks. My wife complains because I refuse to use chop sticks. It doesn't ruin her meal, but she prefers chopsticks when eating Chinese or Japanese food. Same goes for dress code. I don't really care how you dress, but if you sit at my table with an armpit of hair and deodorant film hanging out, it bothers me. I can still eat but it does lessen the experience. We have to draw a line in the sand somewhere.

meatloafsfan Posted December 14, 2013 #125 Share Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) I'm hoping the pie tastes as good as they look - warm pie and ice cream are definitely a good dessert in my books (though I will miss the bitter and blanc and the cappucino pie - they were both excellent). Thanks for posting the pictures - I'm hoping that you'll comment a little on taste and food temperature as well.
