I am thinking of going on the ADV. OF THE SEAS from MIAMI to SOUTHHAMPTON ENG. sailing on April 20th, 2014 & returning on May 5th to SOUTH HAMPTON. My question is can I buy transportation from the ship to the airport ( I think it is London) & how much will it cost?

You can probably buy the official cruise line transfers, but IMO there are plenty of taxi's available and they are cheaper and more dependable. Last month I think I paid around $20 for that taxi ride and the taxi will take you right to your terminal where the official transfers stop at every terminal on the way. I have taken the taxi to MIA everytime and have had no problems.

OP is asking about transfers from Southampton to his airport.

Cab transfer to Heathrow (if that his airport of departure) will be considerably more than $20. Highly recommend he finds his roll call and finds out what others are doing and maybe share a van.

You will not get from Southampton to a London Airport for $20.00

Southampton to London by car takes about an hour and 45 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. you will not find a taxi willing to take you for $20

If you are arriving the day of departure, then you can purchase RCI transfers from airport to ship.

If you are doing a pre-cruise hotel package through RCI, then you would have to provide your own transportation from airport to hotel, but will have transfers included from hotel to port.

If you book a pre-cruise hotel on your own, then you would have to check with RCI to see if they offer any pick-up locations the day of departure in London to Southampton. If not, then you would have to get your own transportation to the port.

We took this cruise last year (loved it and will do it again in a year or so). Royal Caribbean offered buses to Heathrow. I'm not sure of the price of a bus directly to the airport if such a thing existed but they offered a tour that included a stop at Stonehenge and a trip through the spectacularly beautiful countryside for $129/pp. We were in London sometime around 1:30 PM. They also offered one that included a trip to Bath for around the same price. They told us not to book it if our flight was before 3 PM that day (I think that was the time, but it was listed on the website). Our flight wasn't for several more days, so we were safe.

Please ignore my previous post.:o You did specify from ship to airport.

Yes, RCI does offer transfers which can be purchased prior to leaving or once on board. You would have to contact an RCI rep to find out the cost of the one way transfer from Southampton to Heathrow.

Our roll call is here

If you are doing any investigation please note it is 'Southampton' not 'South Hampton'. I don't want you to get wrong info by looking for the wrong city.

Also the ship reaches Southampton on May 4th not 5th. Are you expecting to fly home from the UK on May 5th and therefore also need 1 night hotel accommodation near the airport you choose to fly back to the US?

George35, you may want to check out Coaches at National Express: http://www.nationalexpress.com/wherewego/index.aspx?utm_source=crm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=09_dec_13_countdown

Last time we were in London we used a motor coach to get from Heathrow to Victoria Coach Station (within very few blocks of Buckingham Palace) quite easily and very reasonably. Booked online for 6GBP pp. Booking opens closer to date of travel. I've used trains, coaches, and taxis as well as walking to get around.

There is a coach station listed at Southampton port. I've not yet been to Southampton, so cannot give more first hand info.

Just something to think about. ;)

George if you are traveling solo it might be better to book your transfer through the cruise line, either onboard or online before your sailing. We usually book private transfers and our favorite is Adelphi Executive Hire. Found out about them here in CC and always received excellent service. Hope this helps.
