Rare Manatee Mom Posted December 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2013 We returned today from the Carnival Glory. Will add a more detailed review later but below is a link to some video my DH took showing some of what we experienced with the new "American Table" and "American Feast" test onboard this ship. funinthesun1964 Posted December 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2013 We returned today from the Carnival Glory. Will add a more detailed review later but below is a link to some video my DH took showing some of what we experienced with the new "American Table" and "American Feast" test onboard this ship. Thanks for the video. What did you think of the food? Does anyone know if these menus will be going on all ships in the near future? I noticed the "vomit kit" at the end. Don't think I ever saw one of those before - thankfully.
cruizinisthebest Posted December 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Judging by the comments, didn't seem like it was something you guys liked. Or did you? The brief views of the menu didn't look too bad. The clean up at the end....I probably would have skipped taping that. Totally gross. wantocruisemore Posted December 30, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for the video. Would love to hear some comments on food as a whole. How about the desserts? How did they compare?
All4fun&fun4all Posted December 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for posting this. The menu looked pretty good. Tables didn't look bad. But I have to ask, what was the mystery spam meat listed as on the menu. I think I will avoid it. :p

ms.gloria Posted December 30, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for the video. Could you describe the entertainment by the wait staff? Do they still dance every night? I can't seem to get a straight answer on this. Thank you!

rockbock Posted December 30, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 30, 2013 how was the bread? :D:eek: The breads are amazing! Lots of new choices and very good quality. However, overall I am not a fan of the new dining. Send from device_name using Cruise Critic your_app_name App
QTPieRye Posted December 30, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Maybe it's just me... but from the video, it seems like the American Table is very casual, just by removing the table linens!! With that said, I cannot see people following the dress code for the MDR, when most nights are like going to a typical local restaurant.

SkyMaster Posted December 30, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Thanks for posting. Looks good to me. Lots of the same "stuff" as in previous menus it seems to me. In any case, can't wait to give it a go. "SKY"
QTPieRye Posted December 30, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Are you under the impression that table cloths affect how an individual dresses for dinner? IMO, no table cloth changes the ambiance of the MDR. Don't you dress differently when going to, let's say, Chili's or Outback, as opposed to a restaurant with fine china and linens on the table???? I do :) Edited December 30, 2013 by QTPieRye

QTPieRye Posted December 30, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 30, 2013 I should add, that my DH, is thrilled that the dining, in his words, will be more laid back. Now he can wear his khaki shorts and not give a crap :D

We don't have them within subway distance. But I do go to a lot of fine dining establishments in Washington, DC and tablecloths are becoming a thing of the past. I simply cannot understand all the forty-year-olds who say that a tablecloth will make or break their dining experience. It just makes the room feel like a wedding banquet. I think for those items that are served family style, they should provide one per family - especially with concerns about norovirus.

Honestly, for me, it doesn't really matter as I enjoy wearing a dress and dolling myself up for dinner, regardless of table surface; however, I found it interesting that when my DH watched the video, he yelled hallelujah! MiffyLynx Posted December 30, 2013 #25 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Love the new menu's but am concerned with the dishes for the table. I've been told we can still get it individual. Hope my waiter doesn't mind when I insist on individual, as with my weakened immune system I don't share. :(
