sailingawaysoon Posted January 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2014 We love love love Royal, but we're not dummies, if Carnival wants to give us a free 8 day Southern cruise, WE'LL TAKE IT! Love the ports and can't wait for that alone! We only sailed Carnival once so I guess they are trying to get past cruisers back? Not sure, but we love the water too much and for free, we aren't turning it down!

maureencruiser Posted January 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2014 how did you end up getting this? mail or email? someone call you? was it a casino offer? Yes, more info, please. I would go on any cruise if it was free!
sailingawaysoon Posted January 1, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted January 1, 2014 It came in the form of a letter. Yes, it was from the Casino, but we only play slots, so not sure how one cruise with slots would warrant this???? I'm not complaining, but seriously, we aren't big gamblers, any ideas? DarthGrady Posted January 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2014 Carnival must be doing a big push right now. They also just gave away a bunch of free cruises to travel agents. My wife got one which is why we went on the Ecstasy last month. We had a great time, I'm sure you will too OP. Carnivals cruises are very nice, most of their bad reputation isn't deserved. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk Yes, I know we will have an awesome cruise! Just prefer Royal based on the one cruise we had on carnival, we are thrilled! We love FREE. We aren't travel agents, so the fact that we got the "letter", makes us feel special.

mommabean Posted January 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 2, 2014 It came in the form of a letter. Yes, it was from the Casino, but we only play slots, so not sure how one cruise with slots would warrant this???? I'm not complaining, but seriously, we aren't big gamblers, any ideas? I get letters offering me a free cruise all the time. They sometimes show a picture of a Carnival ship. They say the free cruise is for a particular cruise line or "similar". Are you sure this wasn't a scam letter? Did they tell you to call a certain number right away or it will be too late? If it's too good to be true, it usually isn't true. That being said, I know RCI gave a bunch of Junior Suites (a dozen or so) for free to a gambling group out of Miami - on Vision for the only 2 night cruise in October before she left for Panama. But they didn't get the offer in the form of a letter. Their gambling club presented the offer to the gamblers when RCI revenue turned over the rooms to them to hand out. Seems like there has got to be more to the story. Is this a free cruise but you pay port fees, taxes, gratuities, shipping and handling, and some other misc. made up fees and then get the absolute cheapest inside cabin possible? Please tell us the rest of the story.

sailingawaysoon Posted January 2, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted January 2, 2014 It was free, it's booked thru carnival and a done deal. No online scam, or otherwise. We spoke with carnival directly. We pay nothing. Guess they want our business back. We'll go for the free deal, but we do love Royal....

Alyrica Posted January 2, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 2, 2014 I remember reading a fairly long thread in the casino section on the Carnival site and this is fairly common or so it seemed with the responses. There was question regarding how people were selected since many loyal to Carnival high rollers never received these offers but many low rollers did. OP I hope you have a wonderful cruise! sailingawaysoon Posted January 2, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted January 2, 2014 People on these boards never cease to amaze me! I contacted Carnival directly and was immediately quoted the offer that was sent to me. Call it a scam, or "nothing in life is free", but it was. Do your homework and check out the carnival boards, many people have received similar offers. As they told me, they want to earn our business back. For that, we'll take it. Instead of negativity when people post things, can't people just say things in a nice, or caring manner?

This offer was sent to a lot of people, and yes, it is a great offer. We didn't get a picture of a ship, but the offer to pick our sailing with several itineraries. burnsie Posted January 2, 2014 #21 Share Posted January 2, 2014 My BIL received the letter it was a cruise for him and his "special friend" my sister has chosen to be that special friend. lol They pay $100 for the two of them plus port charges and taxes. They receive a $100 obc and if it isn't used they get a check for the balance of that 100 at the end of the cruise. They had thier choice of cruises and have chosen the Dream out of Port Canaveral for 7 nights. The whole cruise is costing her $295 for the two of them. While it is not free it is close enough for me! Oh yeah the letter came from the Carnival promotion department and was booked through them yesterday. goodycruising Posted January 2, 2014 #24 Share Posted January 2, 2014 I hope you come back and do a review for us. Good on you. :) I am a cynical person too, but sometimes it is better for a company to spend a bit of giving people a good experience that they can enjoy telling others about. Word of mouth is a strong advertising tool.

It's booked. Great deal for a one time cruiser on Carnival.
