Rena921 Posted January 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2014 You still get a free bottle of wine in the Steakhouse on the first night. Not good wine, but hey, it's free

Rena921 Posted January 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) You pay for what you order off of the wine list, but you can still get the bottle of free wine. We bought a bottle of red and also had the free bottle of white. Is this what you are asking? Or are you asking if you can bring the bottle of wine that you are allowed to bring on board? Which I can't answer because I have not done that. I save that wine for the MDR because the wine selection in the steakhouse is fabulous and really reasonable. NCTribeFan Posted January 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2014 Treated myself to a birthday dinner in the specialty restaurant on Conquest on the first night (solo). Warning - do NOT get the Chardonnay! OMG! That's the first time I've poured wine down the sink. I shouldn't have bothered to take the rest back to my cabin. It was awful. Got a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with my casino gift, and it was marginally better, but I think the only choices in the steakhouse are Chardonnary or Merlot. This coming from someone who often buys 3/$10 bottles at the grocery store and enjoys them! Yes, it was THAT bad! OP - don't know what you're asking. You either get the "free" bottle, or you purchase from the wine list, or you bring your own and (probably) pay a corkage fee.
Topo Gigio Posted January 2, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted January 2, 2014 What I mean is that if I go alone to the specialty restaurant on the first night if I get a full bottle or a half bottle of wine?

smyliecruising Posted January 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 2, 2014 Going on Carnival Magic January 4. Do I get a choice of red or white for the Free bottle. We are booked the first night in steakhouse. Really, we only chose to go on Sunday for the free bottle. If I must choose white then I will just wait until later in the week:) Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Rena921 Posted January 2, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) Yes, you'll get a whole bottle. Boy, what a round-about way to answer the question on this thread. I love Cruise Critic! :D Lol, I did answer the OP' s original question with my first response, but then they asked again and the way it was worded confused me so I wasn't sure what they were really asking. So maybe it was a round-about way to ask if you got a whole bottle of wine if you fly solo in the dining room. golfadj Posted January 2, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 2, 2014 Your choice will be Merlot or Chardonnay in a lovely screw-top bottle. Class-ay! Can now get decent wine in a screw top bottle but the chardonnay aint one of them.
DebJ14 Posted January 2, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 2, 2014 The Santa Carolina Merlot they give for free the first night is not bad. On one of our fog cruises out of Galveston that had a delayed departure they had to give us something else for free because Santa Carolina was not a "bonded" item. The replacement wine was excellent. I just wish I could remember what it was.
NCTribeFan Posted January 3, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 3, 2014 Yes, trust us. Do NOT get the Chardonnay. It is truly awful. And like I said, I drink some pretty cheap wines and they are miles better than that stuff. Whatever the "house" wine used to be wasn't that bad. At least I could drink it!
