What to tip Concierge Ball park

For the actual Concierge I'll agree with what has ready been posted. If you go to Happy Hour a dollar or so to the server a drink is customary. For two of us with an attentive follow up for a second I usually leave $5. Some people tip at the end of the week, but sometimes not all the servers stay for the entire week. If we have had excellent bar service (and we usually do), I usually add something extra at the end of the week.

I would love to hear from others how they calculate this!

The first thing I clarify is whether the amount is being split among the entire concierge staff or if it will just go to the concierge. I try to tip around $1 per drink, so the bar staff/waiters will get that amount and then I add on top of that for the Concierge. Generally, it ends up being about $10 per day. We prefer to tip the waiters when they serve us and then we feel like the right people get the tips for bar service. If we do that, when we tip the Concierge we make sure they know we have already tipped the bar staff and that amount is just for them.

Some services we tip the Concierge for: making specialty restaurant reservations; making cabana reservations; priority tender escorting; general helpfulness above and beyond the norm; friendliness (greeting us by name and making sure we find a table to sit at in the lounge). On the Serenade, Mario was fantastic and constantly introduced guests to each other and put people together at tables during the cocktail hours.

We have heard that the bar staff dreads Concierge duty because so many do not tip and they miss out on the tips they would have received if they were assigned at a regular bar. They work really hard.

Thank you - this helps a lot

I assume $50 from the room, not per guest ?

I was thinking $50 unless we have a lot of requests - but since we

Already reserved shows/ dinner - we should be pretty much set.

Also - if we get a cabana - would tip for that go to cabana attendants or concierge ?

I have heard exactly the opposite. The CL is a coveted assignment and is based on merit.

Yes and yes. Don't know about the cabana, never had one but I would guess tip would go to the cabana attendant.

For a 7 night cruise I generally tip $50. Servers I give $20 each. A little more for exceptional service.

I think this is about what we tipped last time to the CL. We don't drink so never attended the cocktail parties. I think the server brought me a soda or something one time - he was nice and chatted with my son, so I tipped him $5. I guess that was a lot...lol

I've given the Concierge as little as $20 per week and as much as $100 per week depending on the level of service & their friendliness. Usually we'll duke each of the bar men in the concierge $50 as we do enjoy the happy hours.

We don't ask for much - maybe a reservation or two and asking them to contact the Chief Engineer so DH can relive his Navy days in a much nicer setting.;). Other than that, it's the bar servers who do the most work for us, and we usually tip $1/drink as we go.

My baseline on a cruise where I don't ask the Concierge for anything special is $5/day for two of us, just for being there in case I need something. So $35 for a week, which often becomes $40 because we don't usually have exact change.:).

We have had Mario twice. By far the best concierge we have ever had. When Mario is the concierge he always gets extra. I am not sure on an answer for your question. If money paid to the Cl is split up or not. That is a good question.

Mario Reyes is as good as it gets as a concierge. He always earns my tip at the high end of the scale.

thanks for your feedback. I have tipped anywhere from $100 to $250 on my past disney cruises. But i use the services a lot so if they are good I think they deserve it. Just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing!

It sounds you are doing the right thing. While we would not have tipped as much as you did, if we had used his services more than we did, we would have increased our amount.

Same here. For the cabin. I usually ask the concierge to apply my internet minutes, and maybe 1 or 2 other similar requests.

If the concierge does not speak to you at all (some have posted this) I would tip zero, or $20 at most.

We usually tip a $100 for a week, more for a longer cruise, and we don't ask for too much. After reading this thread I think that we tip too much.:confused:

I am guessing that most people do not tip anything. So yes, you are generous.

While all tipping is a personal issue I think it's wise to keep in mind that you have access the the CL by virtue of two things 1) a higher end suite cabin; and / or 2) experienced RCI cruiser (D+ or better). Most folks in those categories have the means and while I can understand that they might not tip if they never access the room during their cruise I definitely think it is proper if they do based on the amount of usage.

As an example, we'll get coffee in the mornings, have the concierge make our specialty restaurant reservations, run boarding passes, apply internet and who knows what else? We will also hit HH in the CL most if not every night. If we get to know and like the staff and they enhanced your cruise experience I don't think dropping a couple hundred bucks between them is too much. JMHO.
