ssantow Posted January 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2014 Living in the Rio Grande Valley we frequently go to Mexico to buy cheap booze. When crossing back into Texas we have to pay State Liquor Taxes. It is still cheaper than buying it in Texas. My question is are there State Tax people there at the Texas Ports to collect monies when the ships return?

sminfiddle Posted January 10, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2014 Is the admin fee per item or just once time on the total tax? Hmm, good question. Looks like it will be the same practice as at the borders now... Whatever that is. I haven't done a crossing with spirits in a while. "Section 107.07 of the Alcoholic Beverage Code, in effect for over 40 years, requires that each adult (21 years old and over) importing alcoholic beverages into the state for personal consumption pay the state tax and an administrative fee of $3.00." ~sent using Cruise Critic app~
QueenofEverything Posted January 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2014 I thought there was a 1L exemption per person. Is that not true anymore?
