Best maps

Recommended Posts

Ingo,

How about for the Nook? I know it says for Android, but not all Android apps work for the NookHD. Would love to have it for my NookHD+. I do have it on my iPhone. Very cool app.

Thanks!

Becki

I tried to download it to my Nexus 7 tablet and it quit at 97%. Will try again later.

Which download quit? the app download, the database initialisation or the map download? if you have any issues you can also email me at ingo@rivercruiseinfo.com

I just downloaded the app - very fast! The maps are great! Can you tell me the approximate MB size of the maps so I can get an idea of how many I can download?

all 500 maps need est. 8gb webspace on my server. The size of cities differs: small villages are around 3-4megabyte, some large maps (amsterdam, vienna are around 50-100mb).

In general you can easily install all maps for your cruise and are still <500mb for most cruises. the app warns you if you tend to run out of space on your mobile device

Would this ap work on my Kindle Fire?

The maps will probably show up, but you won't be able to locate yourself unless the Kindle Fire has GPS. It's my understanding that the Fire models with 4G LTE capability have a GPS chip built in and WiFi only models do not have GPS.
