caribill Posted January 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2014 They are totally separate. Even though both are owned by Carnival , they are run as separate companies . Question is about Ocean Players Club and whether play on different cruiselines counts for anything, it is not a question about what Princess does for those who have sailed on other companies under the CCL Corp umbrella. Rare azbirdmom Posted January 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2014 One promotion they were running on the Caribbean Princess was that if you earned 3000 points within the first 6 days of the cruise, they will give you $240 cash on your next cruise. I believe there are other incentives if you earn above that up to a free cruise. I don't know if this is a line-wide promotion or just on certain ships, but it does seem like they are moving away from giving you incentives on the cruise you've already booked. Just got off Car Prin, this program is 2 weeks old, wife had 3200 pts--got letter @ cabin last nite for $240. I had 3700 pts plus significant table play, got $375. Rare azbirdmom Posted June 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Does anyone know an email or snail mail address for the Ocean Players Club? I checked their website and it only has the phone number, and the people who answer that line can't really help. I had posted earlier this year that I got a cash offer for my next cruise and had no problem with them living up to the specified offer. While I was receiving that cash from the casino on the CB last week I inquired about the current promotions and was advised that if I earned points above a specified threshold during the first 4 days of our cruise, I would receive $150 in cash on my next cruise. And I was also told what the thresholds above that yield in terms of cash back. I did cross that first threshold. On the last full day of our cruise, I went up to the host and asked when I would receive my letter which they coincidentally were in the process of putting into envelopes. Mine was on top so they handed it to me. While I noticed that the other letters strewn over the desk had varying amounts starting at $150, mine simply said that my casino play ...."qualifies you for cash offer!" without an amount. I asked about the discrepancy and was told to call the number on my letter which I did today. The casino VIP rep I spoke to this morning looked up my account and said that I was only entitled to $25 because I had another cruise booked already. When I shared what I had been told onboard and that I lived up to my end of the bargain, she indicated that I would have gotten the higher amount if I did not have a cruise booked. Basically, they use the cash as an incentive for you to book another cruise but it stinks that they didn't own up to that prior to my qualifying for the offer. Despite my arguments about them making good on what I was told on the ship, there was nothing this person could do other than commit to the $25. I asked if there was a supervisor or someone else there who could help and was told no. She did indicate that I could ask onboard my next cruise if they would be willing to provide more but that was the only way it would change. This bait and switch stinks and I really would like to send a letter to someone in charge of this program at Carnival. The Princess Customer Relations rep I spoke to on some other issues earlier today (who was terrific, by the way) was going to mention this to senior management at the next meeting, but she said the casinos are run by Carnival so it's not in Princess' hands. I don't know if they will do anything, but I truly would like to let someone in charge know that it is not good customer service to say one thing and do another. So if anyone has an email or snail mail address of the appropriate contact, I would appreciate you sharing it. And beware of the evil casinos! Edited June 4, 2014 by azbirdmom
Nightowl11 Posted June 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2014 How does one become a member of the Ocean Player Club? Can you sign up before you go? I read that if people call the number and let them know that you are going on a cruise, they can get a gift.

I read that if people call the number and let them know that you are going on a cruise, they can get a gift. If you have cruised before with Princess, you can call them to find out if they have any promotions based upon your past play. Otherwise you just show up and play, you're automatically a "member". And the one-armed bandits will take it from there!

We already had a cruise booked within the time limit they give you and we only got $25 applied to the cruise we already had booked. I had no idea people were getting such big payouts just because they didn't have a cruise booked. The casino on the Golden never mentioned the amount...they just said it would be better than the $10 per thousand points you normally get.

It's probably happening to a lot of people, they just didn't ask at the start of the cruise what the promotions were. If you were on the Golden and crossed one of the thresholds, no doubt you would have gotten even more money. The lowest amount they gave for our 7 day cruise over New Years was $240.
