johnandlinda Posted January 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Looking at a 2015 Mariner cruise for late April. Will that be too early to enjoy warm, not hot, weather?
tallship Posted January 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2014 We have done this time of year for the last several years. You may need a windbreaker or a light fleece some days. It is usually a little cool to sit out by the pool although better mid to late April. We love April because it is less crowded.

rarin2go Posted January 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Looking at a 2015 Mariner cruise for late April. Will that be too early to enjoy warm, not hot, weather? April weather in the north-west of the Med can be quite cool and very changeable but generally speaking the further south and east you go in the Med, the warmer the weather. May would be a better bet for warmth!
Nigella Posted January 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2014 April is one of the most difficult to predict months in the Med. :D I can see that I'm going to overuse the word 'usually' in this post, for emphasis! Western Med, usually April can be quite cool-ish and breezy with showers. Eastern Med usually in April has slightly higher temperatures than the west. It can be rainy and stormy though. I feel fairly safe in saying it's not usually hot in April, especially in the west. Best guess, temperature in mid 60's to low 70's, with a few showers and possibly quite breezy. That said you could have wall to wall sunshine or cool, wet and windy. I agree that May is usually a delightful month, especially for the eastern Med areas. wripro Posted January 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2014 I love late April in the Med. The lack of crowds more than makes up for the possible cooler weather though I have always found it perfect.
rarin2go Posted January 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Thank you everyoneWe are looking at the April sailing leaving the 30th Basically Venice to Rome Of the 3 May Med cruises we have taken, two were in pleasant warm dry weather, one in cool showery windy weather - so it's a bit of a lottery! That's why we're booked in June this year ;)
Rare Zqueeze1 Posted January 29, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 29, 2014 We actually did Barcelona to Venice from 4-14 Apr last year and found the weather in southern France to be particularly cold and windy for this Florida boy. However, the weather for rest of our cruise and two week post cruise travels, (Italy, Greece, and Croatia) was incredible with lots of sunshine and mild weather. Add the fact that April is a shoulder month for travel and you should hopefully be more than OK. Z and TB
Travelcat2 Posted January 30, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2014 We did the Med. the past two years -- around the 22nd of April and the other in May. We had beautiful weather both times (no rain - maybe we were lucky). It was actually a bit warm in Venice and beginning to get crowded (but not as crowded and miserably hot as it is during the summer). Think you'll love that time of the year on your cruise:)
